I was invited to speak at Bard and they offered to pay for childcare on top of my honorarium and travel. That has never happened to me before in the twelve years I’ve been a parent/writer making campus visits. That’s some good feminism, @BardCollege .

“Today’s air quality in NYC was the worst in more than 14 years. The concentration of fine particulate matter was 7 times the WHO’s healthy limit. The air in NYC was so bad it was hard to make out the buildings in Midtown Manhattan from across the Hudson just 2 miles away.

Mabel Sincere Raboteau. His mama. She brought him and my aunties to Michigan to escape Jim Crow after a white man killed her husband, their daddy, my grandfather, in Mississippi. She went gray young, didn’t suffer fools, and raised my dad to overcome.

The rain that flooded the subways today was caused by some of the most intense downpours in NYC history. Central Park recorded 1.56" in an hour, only the 8th time since hourly recordkeeping began in ‘43 that we’ve had over 1.5” of rain in that short a time. #climatechange #Elsa
