Great to see so many former Heads of missions (and current friends!) at the @AMBCANADA1 annual reception. Their tremendous support for our work in Canada and around the world demonstrates the special ties that are fostered from a career at GAC.

While in #Tokyo, I met with counterparts at @MofaJapan_en and @METI_JPN – key partners in implementing Canada's #IndoPacificStrategy. I also spoke with incoming President of @ADBInstitute, Mr. Masato Kanda, about Canada’s support to advance sustainable development.

In #Manila, I met with @UsecLazaro to discuss how Canada & the Philippines can continue strengthening 75 years of bilateral partnerships. I also engaged with @CanEmbPH on its work to advance Canada’s interests in the country & Indo-Pacific. Thanks to the entire team!

Wrapped up a productive week in the Philippines and in Japan meeting with #IndoPacific partners and our missions to support greater prosperity, security and resilience in the region.

Great to have renowned international security expert @brucebrookings help us relaunch the O.D. Skelton Memorial Lecture as part of #OpenInsightsDays. Bruce situated Canada within a fast evolving, and quite alarming, strategic global landscape. Much work to do!

Yesterday, I convened foreign missions in Ottawa to ensure the diplomatic corps understands our expectations and rules during electoral periods with respect to what Canada deems acceptable diplomatic activity and where we draw the line on foreign interference.

I was pleased to host a farewell luncheon for the Ghanaian High Commissioner, His Excellency, Anselm Ransford Sowah, as his posting to Canada comes to an end. Thank you for 3 years of working to strengthen ties. Your Canadian friends wish you all the best.

Had the opportunity to host VM Cho on the margins of the annual Korean Peninsula Symposium. Discussions reinforced the importance of Canada-Republic of Korea cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, including on security and defence issues.

Met last week with Ambassador Janet Olisa from @NigeriaMFA to discuss shared interests between Canada and Nigeria. Great opportunity to thank Nigeria for its leadership on promoting democracy in the West Africa region.

I was pleased to host a farewell luncheon for Danish Ambassador Hanne Fugl Eskjaer as her posting in Canada draws to an end. @DKambCanada, thank you for five years of exceptional cooperation – your Canadian friends wish you the best in your future endeavours.

Glad to have attended the US-Canada Summit yesterday hosted by Eurasia Group and BMO. The U.S. is Canada’s closest friend, ally and partner. It’s always a pleasure to work on strengthening and expanding this relationship.

Today I met with #Guatemala @MinexGt Vice Minister Orozco. We committed to build on the strong bilateral ties between our countries, including on shared priorities like democracy and good governance, trade, and investment.

Productive first meeting with Ambassador Garcίa last week. Our discussion served as a reminder of the deep-rooted friendship between 🇨🇦 and 🇨🇱. I look forward to deepening the relationship between our two countries through enhanced diplomacy, trade, and people to people ties.

Thanks for participating in the recent town halls. Over 2000 colleagues turned out to review the new organizational structure and governance we will stand up at the end of the summer. We know change can be difficult, but we are convinced it will be worth the effort.
