a writer’s retreat where we just drink and eat/smoke weed and nobody writes anything but everyone cries at some point and we end it by singing hunger strike by temple of the dog.
Immeasurably grateful and excited to announce that my first collection of short stories, BIRDS AREN'T REAL, will be published by the good, great folks at
@MaudlinHouse
in early 2023!
My novel, LEASING, loosely based on but for legal reasons not explicitly about my time working at a shitty apartment complex is officially set for publication in 2024 with
@HouseofVlad
.
My first-ever collection of "poetry" comes out in mid-July with
@rejectionlit
lolololz it's dumb and everyone who's already read it "loves" it so much hahahaha um uhhh hahaaha!!! PRE-ORDER THROUGH THE RL SITE!!!
The very emotionally difficult, hybrid piece I wrote the other day just got picked up by the amazing folks at
@xraylitmag
(thank you,
@JoVarnish1
)!
Ugh. Tears.
Is it weird that I’m feeling kinda sentimental about
@rejectionlit
right now? Like, holy shit, we’ve been around for almost a year and I still think some of the shit we publish is the best shit out there.
Woke up to an acceptance letter from the good folks at
@EllipsisZine
!!
Been trying to get this story published for 3 years.
Time to celebrate. I just need to find my pants.
been going through all my 90s albums today and listening mostly to Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden as of late.
what 90s shit should I listen to next?
all those people who liked your tweet or retweeted your tweet or commented on your tweet about your new book and how excited they are to buy it and read it will probably, most likely never actually buy it and read it. Twitter is a lie.
Here’s a weird little piece I wrote.
I’m actually super stoked on this story because I kinda felt like I’d lost my mind and I hope y’all join me. Thanks
@copcoat
and all y’all at
@xraylitmag
for the continuous love.
My favorite part about submitting anything is immediately feeling/knowing that I should edit/revise the thing I’ve just submitted but I’m gonna wait until someone else rejects it just in case, in which case I’m never editing/revising anything ever again.
here’s my unsolicited writing advice:
do whatever you want. what works for some might not work for you. advice for others might not be good advice for you. stop worrying about being successful. art is expressive. so just fucking do whatever you want, and be good with that.
Really love the new look of the
@rejectionlit
site. A huge thank you to
@crowjonah
who literally just says, "Let me see what I can do. No promises," and then he ends up making magic. Still fine-tuning a few things, but overall I'm stoked on this!
Tomorrow is my birthday and because we’re living the apocalypse there’s not shit to do, so tonight I’m planning on getting drunk on whiskey with my wife in the bathtub and listening to The Jesus and Mary Chain and screaming at the smog for blocking the stars that I can’t reach.
my novel, LEASING, is coming from
@HouseofVlad
in just a few short months! who wants to read the book early and interview me or write up a review or just tell me how pretty I am??
Could not be more excited and grateful to have my CNF piece about me and my dad and vehicles and shit up at
@xraylitmag
today. Thank you,
@JoVarnish1
for picking it and polishing it up!
me, a late-thirties bearded white man, sitting at my daughter’s gymnastics, reading this by
@saderotica
and watching the side-eyes from the suburban late-thirties white women surrounding me. this is a fun game.
PRO WRITER TIP:
Withdraw everything, burn it in a dumpster behind Walgreens, eat raw steak, drink unicorn tears, howl at the motherfucking sun until your eyes melt into the back of your head and you finally see the world in all its bloodshot beauty.
I married my best friend/woman of my dreams. I bought a house. I started a lit journal people somehow like. I’ve been published more than I’ve ever been published in my life.
I couldn’t be more proud to have been a part of this, to have been able to publish this amazing novel, to eventually be a stepping stone in the inevitably successful career of
@lexicola
. Here’s to Lexi, and here’s to publishing more immeasurably rad books at
@rejectionlit
!
My debut novel, LEASING, is officially available for SIGNED PRE-PREORDERS through
@HouseofVlad
! Not sure if I'm more excited that it's available for pre-order or the thought of all the Super S and dirty pics I'm gonna draw in the pre-ordered copies!
My poem about the goth girl who spit on me in 9th grade is still my favorite poem I’ve written yet.
If/when this gets published, I’m spitting in my own face to celebrate/commemorate.
My new story “Merry Christmas From The Moon” is up today over at
@dailydrunkmag
and I’m stoked because, I mean, Christmas and the moon and drinks and all that shit.
forgot to mention that I'm taking over all fiction subs at
@rejectionlit
for August—so, send me your dumb shit, your weird shit, your sad shit, happy shit, all the shit.
SEND IT TO ME!!
And today, my little micro is up over at
@hobart
! Thank you
@blisster
for accepting this piece and helping me prove all my high school English teachers wrong.
