HAPPY BOOK PUBLICATIONS DAY TO ME! x2!! Two genres of book I never thought I'd publish — a collection of personal essays & a craft anthology I edited. Two books I couldn't be more excited to see out in the world. Thank you, @autofocuslit!!

@deserthorror Yeah, that's fair. That makes sense. I was kinda hoping for that too... while also assuming I wouldn't get it? The stories don't seem interested in that kind of payoff, though that pairing maybe set up the expectation for it in a way that others didn't.

@deserthorror I find myself thinking about the story "pairings" a lot. They were much more subtle in the first half. I think part of what I liked about "Journal" was the way it followed up on and played with "August." (The next pairing are connected even more so!)

@deserthorror I *thought* that one wasn't gonna connect with me... but when Winslow confesses his family and story and then going from there, it won me over and pulled me in!

@deserthorror It is! (Tho, of course, maybe I'll never finish it; maybe it won't work and something else will take its place; maybe Lock-In won't ever come out and so won't have a follow-up!)

@deserthorror YES. I liked that story quite a bit... and then the ending just knocked me out and lifted the whole to one of my faves in the collection.
