Spent the day pulling soil cores with @soilsdiva & @KStateSoilH2O in pasture, CRP, dryland and irrigated fields. I saw calcium carbonate threads at 2-3' deep and it reacted with acid! We found moisture at least 12" and much deeper in others (after our 3" rain about 2 wks ago)

Its not a fun day in northwest KS. Windy days like this, at wheat drilling time with drought conditons, are not a good combination. If there is soil blowing, the K-State Emergency Wind Erosion control is a good source of ideas to help reduce wind erosion.

Are you seeing white flowering plants along the road right now? It's Snow-On-The-Mountain! The white 'flowers' that catch attention are actually bracts, a modified leaf. If you look closely, you can see tiny white flowers in the center. Additional info:
