How can we actually achieve the hyped up promises of LLMs in healthcare? @suchi_padhy shares some of our latest research on this topic. Key highlights: - We have curated a new medical dataset building on MIMIC-IV. - In a clinical task, we found that a fine-tuned 8B open-source model was able to match the accuracy of much larger, state of the art, proprietary models such as GPT-4o and Claude-3.5-Sonnet - Using off-the-shelf LLMs as-is for evaluation poses significant risks Taken together, human clinicians will continue to play a significant role in healthcare delivery.
