@rohan_connolly Because while rap is certainly performative and rhythmic and creative, it's not musical.

@Jizzlobberz @tommorris32 @SEN_Cricket @1116sen There was no lecture; that's your fragile ego. I simply disagreed. Root will likely be second and good for him. As I said, it's not the only metric most people look at.

@Jizzlobberz @tommorris32 @SEN_Cricket @1116sen As I said, missing nine Tests is irrelevant when Root has already played another 15 more Tests on top of them. England simply plays more Tests than Australia, which is why total runs is an imperfect measure.

@Leo_Puglisi6 How many wickets have the Patriots lost and what will it take for them to get back to deuce?

@Jizzlobberz @tommorris32 @SEN_Cricket @1116sen Apologies, I realise you were probably referring to his action. Again, still a different issue. Whatever Smith's role in the sandpaper business, it had no impact on his ability to score runs.

@Jizzlobberz @tommorris32 @SEN_Cricket @1116sen I don't think any particular stat 'rules above all else'. We usually evaluate batsmen across a range of different metrics. Tendulkar is vaunted for his runs, centuries, longevity and successes in different countries. I'm sure Smith will be also.

@LilahRPGtt Yes, it's ridiculous but you can thank sections of the media that have legitimised this woolliness by straight-faced reporting of what is clearly juvenile role-playing and play-acting. That they can whip boomers into a frenzy with this confection is just added incentive.

@Jizzlobberz @tommorris32 @SEN_Cricket @1116sen Smith missed nine Tests during the ban and Root has played 26 more - that's despite Smith debuting two years earlier. Smith still averages six runs more than Root and 55 in England compared to Root's 35 in Australia. On batting alone, I don't think there'll be any limitation.

@tommorris32 @SEN_Cricket @1116sen Given the comparative bowling attacks and Root's lack of success in Australia, it's hard to see him winning that particular battle.

@61Banshee @FootscraysFine1 @RealLTCRicBosi Typical rhetoric from a South Australian, where per capita state debt is only just behind that of Victoria.

@mandaout12 @FoxCricket Smith had his chance for permanency and blew it. The next captain should probably be from a younger generation anyway.

@TMFScottP We need to have both conversations, and likely a few others. I think the situation is becoming so dire, we now need a constitutional convention-style public summit on housing reform that isn't dictated or dominated by vested interests. Yes, I know, the chances of that are zero.

@Flinty_01 Good piece. I have wondered whether this phenomenon is a combination of political stagnation coupled with the decline of organised religion, which is itself no more than a teleological conspiracy theory. These self-serving fanatics are just filling the void.

@slpng_giants_oz @abcnews I'd like to hear about Price's dogged work ethic and her tangible achievements in politics, communities and race relations. I understand that might struggle to fill a 30-minute programme.
