Tomorrow, June 1, marks the first day of the Atlantic Hurricane Season.

is prepared and will be monitoring the tropics for the next 6 months. We stand ready to assist our local partners as needs arise.
TS Amanda developed in the E Pacific & made its way on shore in Central America. The forecast has it crossing southern Mexico and entering Bay of Campeche early next week but forecast confidence is very low. Interests in Texas should be monitoring this situation very closely.

Only 4 hurricanes have struck in East Texas/Southwest Louisiana in recorded history. The strongest was Rita in 2005 with 115mph winds. Laura's winds are 140mph. This may be an unprecedented storm for this area. A new advisory will be available any minute with updated wind speed.
