I am humbled by the continued support I have received to remain State Representative for District 142. My primary was important because it was about whether we fix the schools on the Northeast side of Houston or we continue with the status quo. The constituents chose to 1/

Due to a deep concern on a blanket ban on masks, I have filed HB-164 that would allow public schools to determine their own mask policy.
We must ensure the safety of our students, teachers and staff as they return to school to help stop the spread of this deadly virus.

The recent actions toward my Chief of Staff is unacceptable and deplorable. Anyone who has an issue with me, may take that up with me. My staff is completely off limits and any type of disrespect towards them will not be tolerated.
As one of the few members with an all woman staff, I stand in solidarity with my Chief, women of the Capitol & the brave woman who has come forward. This will not be tolerated & I urge justice to be served!
It was truly a honor to serve as the Chair for Public Education committee. I will continue to do what I have to do to improve student outcomes for all students in public schools. I look forward to serving as Chair of the Juvenile Justice & Family Issues Committee

When a student fails, there are consequences. When a district failed, there were no consequences. Until HB 1842. I have no regrets and if presented the chance, I would do it again.

But we all know what happened in HISD: Nothing."
Today, I filed for re-election to serve as State Representative for District 142. I look forward to continuing to work to improve the lives of every constituent within District 142 & Texan.

Thank you to the
@HoustonChron
for the endorsement. I appreciate that while we may disagree at times, experience and a sound understanding of the issues to District 142 is important to represent them.
New: I profiled
@RepHaroldDutton
, a Houston Democrat who's been at odds w/his party since he revived the

transgender sports bill in May. Dutton confirms he's running for re-elect & weighs in on chatter that Dems want to take him out in the primary.
If the
#TxLege
really wanted to solve the teacher & school staff retention crisis, our members & union would have been invited to the 2-day House Pub Ed Committee hearing about teacher shortages, learning loss, etc.
We've conducted months of research on the topics ... 🤔
The HPE Committee has submitted a letter to Gov. Abbott and Comm. Morath to provide ADA relief for our schools. The Texas House continues to support our public schools and teachers during these difficult times. I’m committed to leading this charge with the members.

Out of 150 members, I was the only “No” vote on the born alive bill. Not only have I consistently voted against any anti-abortion bills but I’ve stepped up and spoke against them on the House floor. This endorsement says more about Planned Parenthood than me.

to stand with me to make sure we unlock the genius in all the 5.5 million children in Texas and that is what I intend to do. Thank you to my staff, volunteers and everyone who stood beside me. Serving as the State Representative for District 142 is an incredible honor 2/

This raises questions because the street says folks using cocaine do not use meth and vice versa. Was this intake voluntary and knowing? I don’t know!

I would pay little attention to this toilet magazine just as most Texans do. Ask yourself- when is the last time I or anyone I know bought a Texas Monthly? Never!
For those living in District 142: If you’re in need of food, please make sure to stop by our drive-thru food distribution tomorrow from 12pm-2pm at the Julia C. Hester House, located at 2020 Solo St. Houston, TX, 77020.
Other than redistricting, this agenda is the Governor majoring in the minor. Know why Texas has done without most of these since 1845 when Texas entered these United States - it’s bullcrap at it’s stinkiest.

I'm convening a 3rd Special Session at 10AM on Sept. 20.
The

has the opportunity to redraw legislative & congressional districts in accordance w/ the new census numbers.
Also, issues critical to building a stronger & brighter future for all Texans still remain.
The House rules provides for committees to hold a formal meeting. While there are no public comments, anyone can submit written testimony that is distributed to members. You’re also more than welcomed to attend, which is why the location is posted.
@RepHaroldDutton
just called a formal House Ed Comm. meeting for this afternoon. No public comment and no cameras. What are you doing behind closed doors Dutton? Which Texas children will you sacrifice today? Texans deserve to know!

HB-11 is a result of countless testimony the committee heard during the interim & the concerns from my colleagues on how to better support our Texas teachers. I look forward to working with all members on this House priority to see HB 11 across the finish line.

It was my absolute pleasure to join my colleagues to discuss public education issues affecting their schools. I look forward to working with them in the upcoming session. Thanks for the invite Rep.

Last week, we attended a meeting with the House Pub Ed Committee Chairman,
@RepHaroldDutton
, Rep
@MattShaheen
& Rep
@candynoble
along with several other districts to discuss school funding, inflation & HB 4545. Thank you, Rep Matt Shaheen and staff, for organizing this meeting!
On behalf of the Re-Elect Harold Dutton campaign, please join me & my family today for a non-reception fundraiser by taking this day and spending it with your family and loved ones.
Your voice was silent at the start of the session challenging Dutton not being reappointed House Public Ed Chair. And rumors are the primary reason was because Dutton was anti- voucher. But you were mute about this. Go back to sleep.
A reminder that The Family Empowerment PAC is a pro Voucher PAC and they donated $10,000 to
@RepHaroldDutton
,
@ShawnieT146
and
@SergioMunozJr
and now we all wait and watch what 10k buys. FEPAC still had over $300,000 to buy off votes in last report.
Today, the House Committee on Public Education has kicked off it’s first interim hearing.

I don’t do this for shout outs or accolades. Kids belong in the classroom. All that anger you display towards me isn’t healthy nor does it affect me. I hope you find time to enjoy your weekend. Be blessed.
@icedsweetee
I’m kidding. This move only hurts staff that work tirelessly to ensure constituents are taken care of & the Legislature is able to do their job.
If your child is a 3rd grader at one of the following schools, sign up for the Northeast Spelling Bee!
Your child could win $3,000, $1500, or $500. Applications can be picked up from the 3rd grade Teacher and MUST be turned in by Dec. 1, 2021.

Need I remind you that the UIL transgender bill did not pass. Attacking me instead of focusing on those who continue to put the item on the call and what you can do to stop the bill is highly unproductive. Thx.

Explain one vote I made that will hurt people? Diversity was once a Democratic hallmark - especially of thought. Apparently you want to decide what I should think, say, and do. Never!
