It's been months with no reply from AT on the legality of
@MercedesBenz
NZ using the road verge as company parking for the past 10+ year. Therefore, I can confirm that there is free parking in Newmarket on the verge outside Mercedes Benz on St Marks road. Help yourselves!

At the crash site of the cyclist this week. 175 Marua Rd, there are 4 cars parked across the footpath. The monument for the cyclist has been moved to allow for footpath parking. Please send a warden now. thanks
Why do people feel the need for this? Are you towing a 13 tonne boat? No. A 5th wheel trailer home? No. This Ford F450 weighs over 3 tonnes, and burns 29 litres/100km (8mpg)

could you please remind your staff driving branded car rego PJG647 that using a mobile phone, even when stationary in traffic, is illegal. Doing it outside a school (Kohimarama today at 920am) is even worse. Thanks
Hi
@WestpacNZ
could you please have a word to your staff who drove 2km along Abbotts Way, Remuera this afternoon in your vehicle LKD524. She spent 60% of the time looking at the phone in her lap and 40% at the road ahead.
These Dutch “bicycle buses” are transporting 50+ kids getting the kind of exercise that leads to better learning, who DON’T need to be driven & dropped off by parents adding lots of local car traffic. Nijmegen, NL video via

NZ Police's new bike squad's target is..... cyclists using the ped phases on Queen St. A friend pointed out that he was riding slower than the e-scooters and got a warning. A better use of their time would be ticketing texting drivers, you know, the ones who could kill somebody.
@sharper_brain
Spoiler alert. The story goes on for days. Brain sharper has 1000 adverts you have to scroll by. The bf and gf get out of the house safely.
With the number of scam phone calls I have been getting lately I've decided to stop answering my phone to unknown numbers. Anyone else in NZ that has reached this point?
A real example of 'pettiness'. I put this paid postage envelope in the company out tray. Instead of throwing in the bag of mail it was opened to find my name, resealed and put on my desk.
The election voters that scare me the most are the 'aspirational voters'. Ones that vote National, ACT, etc. despite the fact they will be worse off under that government. Are they thinking 'one day I'll be rich like Luxon'.
The tragic death of the boy in Whangārei reminds me of school trips I went on as a parent helper. On one I had to stop a teacher rolling the school van off the road and the other I carried a 12 year old girl with heatstroke for a kilometre. Poor planning is rife in NZ schools
Imagine a world where people intentionally reduce the right of passage to a venerable group of people to provide more space for a less venerable one.

mission bay, Auckland.
Walking in the Auckland domain yesterday, met a family who were on day two out of MIQ. Recent arrivals from Kabul. They were so grateful to be here and I was so lucky to have met them.

create a bylaw and app so the public can submit photos of illegal parking and in return get 10-20% of the fine you charge the driver.
@realDonaldTrump
The webcam at the top of the Washington Monument looking towards the Lincoln Memorial (the only camera which would show crowd size of Trump's boondoggle) has been disabled for the day.
Hi
@AklTransport
I mentioned about a month ago that the cycle lane planter boxes need moving back to their correct location. They either haven't been done or have been moved back into the cycle lane by the public. Could you please fix this? Thanks 18 federal st.
Great comment on the Complex Conversations website... 'Cycleways, bus lanes and pedestrian crossings are only required due to the presence of motorists, therefore motorists should pay for them.'
Last rant of the morning. WTAF is happening with the Tamaki Drive cycle path?!?!? One lane has now been shrunk down to a single bike width!!! I am lost for words

It makes no difference. We did a study in 2005 on bike commuter safety. It didn't matter what clothes you wore, your accident rate stayed the same. Try concentrating on bad driving, THAT will make a difference.
A ute parked half on the footpath near my house, and as I walked past I bumped the wing mirror in. Turns out a guy was in the ute and not happy. "You got a problem?!", so I replied "Oh, sorry I didn't see your ute, it's parked on the footpath right?" . No answer. Kept walking.

The real 'slaves' here are the ones succumbing to the fear of living in your illusion of Freedom, arming themselves, thinking they have any chance against the government.
@ZaphodHarkonnen
Hi James, that was awful. IMO you have two options.
One, go to the nearest Police station and complete a 1V form. This confusingly named 'crash report' is used for incidents like this even though there was not technically a 'crash'. I'll post a copy of the form here to fill out..

Yes! The last time we went I had to sit the family down for the 'what if...' talk before we went to the mall. When people start accepting that as normal they've given up on it ever changing.
Check out this a$$hole who is so determined to pass me on my bike that he forgets about the red light, and the fact that traffic ahead has stopped.
I've cropped the video, but words were exchanged and he alluded to being a Police officer. This could get interesting.
I'm about to give up alcohol. I'm not a big drinker (maybe 2-3 drinks a week), but recently I've found my tolerance has dropped significantly, and I'm not sleeping well after a drink. Time to listen to my body.

I'm tired of National's pathological obsession with economic growth. We need to change how we look at and measure 'economic success'.
