🎉 5k PR: 16:57! Massive 48 second PR from 2 months ago. It’s still sinking in that I hit this goal, especially in humid conditions. It took everything I had, including a 77 second kick for the last 400m to bring it under 17. I put in the work, prayed, and we got it done ✝️

We did it! 4:58 on the mile at my first ever track meet. 🥈🥇 The sun came out minutes before the race, absolutely melting us on the line. I kept it in control due to lack of oxygen in the air & knew it would come down to the kick (splits in pics) 2nd in the mile, 1st in 3k!

Milledge Mile: 4:48 10 second PR from my first ever mile 4 weeks ago! A road race mile is a reckless, throw caution to the wind, event. The front group went out at a 62 second 400m, and I knew I needed to back off to contend! Couldn’t quite close the gap, but learned a lot!

There’s something special about getting to the last lap in a 1600m. Mile 25 in a marathon. 2 miles into a 5k. You get to a place mentally where you have to make decisions while at your worst, in the deepest pain, feeling sorry for yourself. I’m excited for that tonight 🔥

Title defense - unsuccessful 🥉 I managed to get across the line first on the day, but due to a staggered start, it was good enough for 3rd on the day. I passed 🥇 on the run, but didn’t put enough time into him due to serious side stitches. These sting, but learned a lot.

Overall Sprint XL triathlon win with the team at the absolute hottest race of the season! 🏊🏻‍♂️ 89°F WATER temp. Stayed calm for 750m and: 🚲 235W across a rolling 22 mile bike course (56 minutes) 🏃🏻‍♂️ 19:19 (no watch, just feel) uphill trail start into pavement 5k.

@B_Holmer There’s plenty of people on carnivore diet a heck of a lot faster than you. People do all sorts of whacky diets. Vegan, meat only, etc. Doesn’t really correlate with performance

When my endurance training volume exceeded 12 hours per week consistently, my body changed in ways that science wouldn’t believe. + no more asthma. + i don’t get sick, even when everyone around me is sick. + the body self-healed injuries that I thought were mostly permanent.

Once I realized I sure don’t like running marathons, there was no reason to consider running a 50k. If I don’t want to run a 50k, then I sure don’t want to run a 50 mile’r. Once I decide against ever running 50 miles, I sure as hell never want to do 100 miles 😂

💪 If you can run a marathon then you can run a 50k. If you can run a 50k, then you can run a 50 miler. Once you complete a 50 miler, you sure as hell can do 100 miles. So stop doubting yourself and make the dam leap! You can do more than you realize. Stop letting "what if"

Long aerobic warmup into steady long run. 96% humidity. With inflammation in the knee from the bike crash, as always, my rule with injury is that as long as it’s not making it worse, keep going. It doesn’t feel great, but doesn’t feel any worse during or after.

With lots of hard work, I can shave my 10k from a 36 > 35 min. With a moderate amount of hard work, I can shave 3 minutes off my 40k bike split. With easy, consistent work, I can shave 4 minutes off my 1500m swim. Remaining season goal: focus on low-hanging fruits. 🍉

Hardware collected for the AGP (age group to pro) triathlon squad. Felt flat on the day, quite literally, when I learned I rode 40 watts higher than my friend and only beat him by 1 second on the bike. I rode at least half of the 14.5 mile bike at 0PSI. A good day out!

2024 is all about reducing information intake. Once you recognize that a lot of the noise out there is unverified hot-takes from fake-it-til-you-make-it personalities, it becomes a whole lot easier to mute them and start building something for yourself.

@max_stoneking @BowTiedRunning @Alan_Couzens @altini_marco I’m not gonna namedrop pro triathletes, but I’m certain that some have 120ms HRV and some sit at 45ms, and everything in btwn. I think HRV, like heart rate, is a strong PERSONAL indicator of your recovery, but gets overblown, like low resting HR. 20+ off normal=you’re tired.

Obsessed with swimming. Not in the “pumpkin spiced latte” kind of way. It doesn’t come naturally to me. It’s my worst discipline in triathlon. I’m obsessed because I want to make it my best discipline one day. If I post swim footage, would any swimmers want to roast it? 🔥

I often write my posts outside of X before opening the app. Unintentionally, there’s a pool of recycled thoughts and ideas in my news feed. The “for you” section seems to be a living organism where creators are inspired to write almost-identical thoughts from each other.

📝 10k Race Recap: Sub 37? ✅ Stretch goal of sub 36:30? ✅ Going in, I thought I was going to be time trialing this race, given most of my friends run in the 33’s and 34’s. Luckily, a previous college runner latched onto my hip for the first 5.5 miles, and we had a day.
