For 48 1/2 years, I've identified as Christian first & second as wife. Since the death of my husband 2 weeks ago, I'll go with, "TBD." Pancreatic cancer sucks, but so does suddenly becoming a widow. Twitter has offered distraction, so thanks to everyone who debates w/me.

Women do not have to kill our children to succeed. I got pregnant my sophomore year in college - after going back at 24, with a 4 yo. 2 years later I went back with scholarships and more opportunities. 2 years after that, med school. Never considered abortion!

With nearly 4Million births a year in the US & less than 1000 (except during COVID) pregnancy-related deaths, 1/2 which happen more than a week after term delivery & 80% which are preventable, there is no "reasonable" risk in pregnancy unless there's an actual complication.

That's irrelevant. Physicians learn to read the literature & interpret research, even if we don't participate in hard science. One attraction of medicine is that the best of us continue learning & adding skills. Ophthalmologists are generally at the top of our classes, btw.

The primary human right is the right not to be killed.
The nascent human has no power or will to "use" her mother's body. She became because of actions before she existed. But she does exist, she is human & is human-enough to possess human rights.

Those "spaces" were board rooms, private clubs where business was conducted. The only similar circumstance was the sports locker room, where male reporters were routinely allowed.
Women have not demanded the right to undress and take showers in men's changing rooms.

The 2nd time, definitely the 3rd time, the ER drs should have called the OB Dr, who should have admitted her & scheduled a d&c.
A d&c isn't an ER procedure.
The fact that it (as well as the misoprostol) are used in induced abortions, doesn't change the definition.

It's ethics, Dr! Physicians do not kill. For over 2500 years, our First Principle has been, "Cure when possible, but first, do no harm."
Medicine should improve health where possible, relieving suffering, but not by intentionally ending the life of the suffering.
There is no medical evidence supporting these bans.

Great post. Women didn't start the controversy: "most of us just want to get along," too. We have many examples that, especially when someone is willing to flaunt the historic division of private spaces, it's not unreasonable to expect that they'll break other societal rules.

Seriously, not her body - she doesn't have 2 hearts, 4 lungs, etc. At 26 weeks not only is the child viable, but it's safer for her to carry to term delivery than to increase her risk w/ 2-3 days' prep or rapid induction & instrumental manipulation of gravid uterus.
