to access jhanas, you clear the hindrances. doing core transformation [1] clears hindrances, so it gives access to jhanas. with meditation, you mostly operate at a lower level of abstraction using nonverbal moves like relaxing and pulsing intentions, whereas core transformation

most fun part of today's metta meditation (2hrs): first, there was a persistent feeling of pure happiness as i flicked through different smiling faces of people in my life. second persistence was awareness of a background process noticing and releasing tension simultaneously.

you can. just less cognitively and physically intense tasks. walking, chatting, reading, eating, etc. you can tap into a juicy joy signal or other jhanic elements for a large portion of the day. w more people learning jhanas, the floor of what's possible will continue to rise

Doubt propagates doubt. Undissolved, it causes your priors to not update given new, positive information. You maintain the assumption that you’re going to fail on some level, so you miss little successes that are happening. They get filtered out. This can be solved with intention
