i think good feelings are either: - fast euphoria: stimulants, competition, work, etc. - slow euphoria: opiates, cuddles, sauna, relaxation, etc. - spiritual euphoria: LSD, meditation, beauty, love, etc. a good life is when your routine cycles between them regularly

Metta practice is just basic hygiene, the mental equivalent of washing your hands. You touch so many emotions throughout a day, your mind gets completely stained. Practice is the act of scrubbing, kindness is the soap that dissolves it all.

Am I being stupid or is there no way neurofeedback for meditation will work? The signals you have inside your mind (piti, calm, noticing thoughts, seeing more characteristics clearly, etc.) are so much better & cleaner than what you could get with a 1d value inferred from EEG!

Meditators talk about equanimity leading to experiencing emotions more fully, but I've not felt that. Has anyone else experienced something more like a 80% reduction in emotions ~overall~? It feels like sand slipping through my fingers - feelings won't manifest or grow roots.

current sleep stack (works really well): - 0.3mg liquid melatonin, 30-45 minutes before bed - brush teeth, clean house, get ready for bed immediately after - call friend for 10-20 minutes, speak slowly, tell bedtime stories - go to bed after call, cherishing sense of care. this

Something weird that meditators say, is that enlightenment is sudden & irreversible. If meditation was like weight lifting, you wouldn't expect your gains to be irreversible. But in science, discoveries tend to stick around after being made.

Do Nothing is the most delicious type of meditation. The paradox is both unbearable & earth shatteringly pleasant. Tasting every qualia, just for them all to share the one true taste - a taste that's both the only one you've ever known, and also completely incomprehensible.
