@OCStationary @sharrond62 I'm sure much could be run more efficiently, it would be naive to suggest not. However, getting services back to where they should be takes more cash than it would have been to maintain them properly to start with. The main issue is the huge cuts in gvt funding

Can't disagree with this at all. If private companies fail tough. If those companies provide utilities or public services (eg water, power, transport) they should go into public ownership with zero compensation

@JamieKav86 @Feargal_Sharkey @thameswater If Thames Water had invested over the last 3 - 4 decades instead of prioritising dividends (by going into debt) we wouldn't have got into this position in the first place. There is no defence of water companies.
