Excellent work by Tesla's energy team! Our Texas customers can now unlock the full potential of their powerwalls, reducing energy costs and enabling more renewable grids!.
Introducing Tesla Electric, the electricity plan that offers low-cost clean energy for homes with Powerwallāstarting in Texas ā

@alojoh Another reason for pedal-in delay is to avoid drive line oscillation. At Tesla back in 2013 we developed sophisticated active damping controls to enable a butter smooth yet responsive pedal without triggering half-shaft resonances or harsh sounding gear meshing / unmeshing as.

@brandenflasch @itskyleconner @teslaflexx @MartianWheels @TeslaCharging We IDd a corner case bug that sometimes locks posts into 100A max when charging Cybertrucks from very low SOC. Since @itskyleconner is so good at arriving with 0% remainingā¦he found this corner case a few times :). Bug fixed, piloting right now, will be fully deployed next week.

@itskyleconner While I agree it may not make a difference in overall site timelines given permitting and utility IX, these pre-fab innovations fundamentally drive down cost per post deployed (time = money). We will continue integrating more pre-fab content, including lighting and canopies /.

Excited to be working alongside our partners @sunnovaenergy @sunrun and Powerwall customers to make this the biggest VPP in the world (potential over 300MW) and rapidly reduce the frequency and duration of grid outages in Puerto Rico.
In Puerto Rico, 75k Powerwall owners can now get paid to support the grid in what could become the largest virtual power plant ever šµš·š

@LimitingThe The patent describes a more scalable, lower capital investment, and lower process cost means of making LFP than traditional precursor CSTR followed by RHKs. Also flexible to a variety of Fe and Phosphate inputs. Would be prudent for the new LFP supply chains developing in the US.

@jdeely @CAgovernor @California_ISO @CalEnergy Itās amazing and rewarding to watch the orders of magnitude scaling. I remember when the Tesla Energy team deployed our first 20MW of grid-scale storage in California, for @SCE at Aliso Canyon, over Xmas 2017. Three+ orders of magnitude in 7 years, wow!

@LimitingThe Another SS challenge is that solid state electrolytes / separators typically contain much more lithium than those in non SS batteries in order to achieve Li+ conductivity (ie reasonable charge / discharge rates), driving higher fundamental materials cost per kW (yes I mean kW).

@ripple_energy @teslaenergy @mahkusg @WholeMarsBlog @WR4NYGov @itskyleconner The challenge with vehicle to home backup is that the car can only provide 240V line to line. This is because the charging standards (NACS and CCS both) donāt have the neutral wire in them. But homes in the US / Canada are wired with split-phase 240, which means current must.

@DavidOsmond8 thank you for continuing to share your analyses. They are very consistent with Tesla's findings --> that we can achieve sustainable energy grids with the stationary storage tech (i.e. @TeslaMegapack) and renewables we are deploying today.
Thread: Each week I run a simulation of Australiaās main electricity grid using rescaled generation data to show that it can get very close to 100% renewable electricity with just 5 hrs of storage (24 GW / 120 GWh).Results:.last week: 99.9% RE.last 132 weeks: 99.1% RE (1/4)

Useful perspective on pace of the sustainable energy transition.
Some napkin math: . this year's additions of solar (413GW per @BloombergNEF ) and wind (124GW on+offshore per @IEA) should generate 750-800TWh in their first full year of operations. More than Brazil consumed in 2022 (703TWh). Less than Japan consumed (1,034TWh).
