@NeemaMehrabi @SUPER_FORMULA_E Right. So it DOES have a physical connection, but bypasses it unless the car is turned off or senses a fault. That still means it has a physical connection. Which means it cannot take advantage of the packaging, NVH, crash, or cost benefits of not having a physical connectionš¤¦š¼āāļø.

@bmj254 Iād pick both as manuals, personally. But Iād have to admit that the Golf R engine, with the far greater lag, works better with the DSG - at least it did on Mk7 with the Rās strange gearing. Havenāt driven Mk8 R yet.

@SUPER_FORMULA_E Yep, Nissan used a steer by wire system on the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 back in 2015 or so. Key difference is that it had a traditional steering column that the computer could declutch.

@Jude_Thaddaeus @HanSolex Sharing a platform is one thing. This is sharing a platform, engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, electronics, and the complete INTERIOR from a competitorās vehicle. The Macan and Q5 share platforms but are sufficiently differentiated that neither is offensive to its brand.
