Porsche: We electrified our 911, used a bigger engine, but it only added 100 lbs. Bugatti: We electrified our supercar, used a bigger engine, but it actually weighs *less* than its predecessor. BMW: We electrified our M5. It now weighs as much as a Model X Plaid electric SUV.

New BMW M5 weighs ~5,400 lbs. That’s 1,000 lbs more than the new 8.3L V16, triple e-motor Bugatti. It’s only ~100 lighter than a SuperCab Ford Raptor. What is M doing???

Just a friendly reminder that the Chevy Spark EV, which is front wheel drive, has more torque than a Subaru STI.

The same study that says fueling EVs is more expensive than ICE also says the time burden of plugging/unplugging an EV at home is *3 hours* per month. I just timed it. Took 5 seconds, not rushing, to go from outside driver's door to unplug, hang charger, and return to car door.

We have examples right in front of us of how policy that follows science allows us to return to normal, and we’re like “nah.” We’re still debating masks & making excuses while New Zealand learned a brief moment of following science means they’re back to packed, maskless stadiums.

“Tesla’s only advantage is charging” seems to be thrown around a lot now, but as they’re the only company actually trying it’s a massive advantage. Charging is a pretty significant part of the equation; it’s very easy to understand why people choose alternatives.

Every f’n time. This is why we tell people to just stick to gas and hybrid. Charging in Ontario is a joke

Doug obviously considered the Crosstrek before posting this, and his thoughts remain valid, because the Crosstrek isn't just an appliance, it's a beacon of hope for enthusiasts across the nation. Boxer engine, awd, manual - Porsche Turbo S only has two of those.
