My daughter was hired at Walmart as a greeter (which was not a great placement for her for obvious reasons) and when a customer returned bolt cutters she commented โoh you must be a burglarโ. Mgmnt was not happy.

This is so silly. I canโt make my bank stay open longer. Lol. Schools close for the day, too. Iโve never thought about how many hours (thousands?) Iโve stayed after closing. Janet at the bank isnโt staying for you to cash a check at 7pm and no one would ever expect her to.

Reminds me of some of the anti-Semitic propaganda from WW2 - the octopus was used frequently. Not saying this is propaganda! Just that the use of the octopus reminded me of a poster that used to be in a textbook I used to teach World Literature.

Iโm so sorry. Are you ok? How can I help you? My mom was in a long term care facility and she kept complaining to me about her โhorribleโ roommate. I was there one evening when her roommate was atrocious & abusive to one of the aides. No one deserves to be treated that way.

Yes. And how we educate these children needs to change. I had a class last year with 6 (HS) boys who struggled to behave and I spent most of the class keeping their pots from boiling over and completely destroying the entire 90 min class every day. Itโs a lot of work.

At this point in my cycle of low self-esteem & self-loathing I am convinced no one likes me, Iโm trash at my job and everything I do, including parenting, is at best mediocre. 6 months ago I was confident that I was great at my job, being a friend & mom. Idk what is wrong w me.

I have a hard time not taking teaching personally. I have a rowdy class this semester & I have no impact - they talk over me, ignore me, make me wait for them to finish their conversations/texts before responding, walk around the room. 70% boys and I am a failure.

I like to start w โMy Nameโ from The House on Mango Street! Great voice, easy for the students to emulate style. They look up the meaning of their name, ask parents why they chose their name and it is a great low risk community builder (plus they learn each otherโs names lol).
