Unpopular opinion: “I love you” should not require reciprocity. You’re saying how you feel and that should be complete in itself. Expecting someone to say it back erases that phrase of all meaning and instead turns it into the self-fellating question, “You love me, right?”

“The top” is VERY SUBJECTIVE. The ability to comfortably live the life you desire and look after the people you love + the flexibility to be fully present for them is thoroughly unmatched. I would personally take that over a conventional definition of “the top” any day.
Unpopular opinion: you can’t remote work or freelance your way to the top.

I think every young person should learn at least one creative or technical skill. Graphic design, copywriting, software development, information security, UX/UI design and photography, to name a few, are skills that you can leverage to earn a living independently.

Almost every paid influencer post I’ve seen in SA is stiff (eg that Fanta nonsense on Tik Tok), different in tone from the regular content and deeply, deeply uninteresting. Stop doing ad reads and calling them content, then expecting your followers to love them.

This has been a difficult (several) week(s). I'm overwhelmed, tired and unwell. But I've also got a few wins that have a massive impact on my mental state and my future. Things aren't always rosy but there's always something to celebrate. Stay in the race, don't quit.

A few random thoughts on depression...
A few months ago I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder. It also happens that it manifests with symptoms that look like ADHD. I had been struggling with this for at least 12 years at this point, and for once I felt seen.

Real human stories could have been told using the same resources dedicated to a cow. BLM, Israel's occupation of Gaza, stolen artifacts sitting in European and American museums etc. There are far too many IMPORTANT human crises facing black and brown people but she chose a cow.

This is a PROBLEM for "smart" people. A keen awareness of your depression/anxiety and having workarounds so you can keep being functional is not the same as dealing with the feelings in a healthy way. Might actually be worse than being clueless because therapy isn't as effective.
I think at some point you just learn to function with the sadness. It doesn’t drown you as much, you just kinda walk with it, carry it with you.

Once every 6-8 weeks, I’m not depressed, I get a full night’s sleep and the brain inertia doesn’t drag my morning out till 11am. Today’s that day and I guess I’m going to squeeze every drop of productivity out of it.
