One of my favorite tropes in Looney Tunes is when the characters who are generally at each other's throats form a temporary truce when dealing with a common enemy.

The discs are almost entirely taken from the preexisting Max masters. Most of the library has been restored in HD. I wrote this in the reviews for Jerry Beck’s site several times.

Not true. Aa huge chunk of the library hasn’t been restored — and there’s even more that have been restored but not *properly*. There’s a massive undertaking happening right now to get that number down at

Remember, anyone who tells you to never complain about the issues with old cartoons on home video is a pathetic toady.
Disney just did a 4K remaster of Cinderella and I'm glad to see it get a good restoration. It restored a lot of detail and linework lost in the old digital clean-ups. For comparison, the old Blu-Ray is on the left and the new 4K transfer on the right. Hope they do more of this.

If you DVR every Toon in with Me, Saturday Morning Cartoons, and Sunday Night Cartoons, you can ultimately stockpile a mix of about 780 Warner, MGM, Fleischer, Lantz, Columbia and Famous cartoons that you can watch on any computer, smart TV or smartphone. Quite a bargain.

The second third of this (1943-55) has real direction and more than its share of classics from Culhane, Lundy, Patterson, and Avery. The first third (1934-43) is kind of "try and do what everyone else is doing and fail" that so much of the business was in those years.

The last third of Lantz (1955-72) is essentially "Hanna-Barbera cartoons with less design and more animation", YMMV. I can't look at them objectively because I spent so many years staring at them for the Walter Lantz Cartune Encyclopedia website, but there are worse cartoons.

Holy shit that last page is the very first story I ever localized back when I was in high school. I don’t like living in a post-Branca world.
Take 1960s Carl Barks, add a crazy amount of energy and expression and you get the great DANIEL BRANCA. It's one of those artists whose work just really stood out to me when I was a little kid (with no artist credits in the magazines), it was just SO GOOD!
