Storyboard artist on The Patrick Star Show + other Sponge shows! 🧽 Lover of all things vintage/weird/wacky. Cartoon fanatic and fugitive from the funny papers.
Howdy! 👋 If I'm not drawing cartoons, I'm watching or talking about them! I love weird things, old things, and crazy things. (Preferably all at once.) 🦆
All art for the year will be linked under this thread! Be sure to take a gander, and thanks for stopping by! 🧵🎨⬇️
Here's my all-time favorite bit from a Tex Avery cartoon in honor of his birthday. IMPECCABLE timing, control, and structure, his brilliance truly cannot be understated
I have never known a world without SpongeBob, and I hope I never will. It’s the biggest honor imaginable to now be a part of that world and give kids the same spark and zest for life that these guys gave me—I would be a much different person without him. Happy 25th, boss!
i am SO excited to say that i’m now a bikini bottomite!!! 🧡🧽 i’m doing work as a storyboard revisionist & character designer—this is an absolute dream come true. i’m so thrilled to be a little part of such a talented team! so excited to learn, grow, and connect!!!
What are some of your favorite moments or line deliveries from the early seasons of Spongebob?
Spongebob and Patrick going through the department store was a classic.
One of my favorite aspects of MOUSE IN MANHATTAN is how earnest/ sympathetic the filmmaking is—exaggerated perspective and scale put the viewer in Jerry’s POV, encouraged to share the wonderment rather than trivialize it (no “look at the silly mouse pretending glass is ice!”)
There’s something poetic about being promoted to a storyboard artist the same day SpongeBob got his job 24 years ago! I’m so very grateful for this amazing show and crew every single day. This show has always meant the world to me and it’s an honor to be doing what I’m doing!
Just found out long-time SB art director Peter Bennett passed away last night. One of my favorite parts about visiting the studio has been ogling at all of his gorgeous artwork on the walls. Please be sure to give his work the love it deserves. Not just today, but every day
once again, GREAT timing—wonderful musically, behaviorally, and comedically. the humorously stiff caricature of humphrey bogart mixes incongruously yet hilariously well with the soft, cartoony looks of elmer and bugs
mama bear’s dance (animated by ken harris) from A BEAR FOR PUNISHMENT is genuinely one of the funniest things i’ve ever seen. that expressionless stare the cherry on top
Been watching too much Duck Dodgers lately and am impressed at not only Joe Alaskey picking up on the subtleties of Daffy’s Yiddishisms (per Mel Blanc’s own admission), but that they also somehow managed to sneak in a circumcision joke
(SpongeBob’s been through this routine enough times to know to get a backup for himself.)
Happy Valentine’s Day! May your chocolates be sweet and uneaten by well-meaning friends!
I also got to making some holiday cards! Sappy mush cut out for your viewing pleasure. It was so much fun to make these and such a pleasure to actually see them printed and give them out in person!
I drew this 2 years ago, utterly clueless as to what I’d be doing now. I can’t stress the impact he’s had on me—I wouldn’t be an artist without him. An absolute role model in many ways. Happy birthday, Ocean Man! ❤️
Big cartooniversary today—THE GREAT PIGGY BANK ROBBERY turns 76! It’s my favorite cartoon of all time and one I can’t ever bring myself to get tired of. Drop whatever it is you’re doing and go watch it now if you’ve never seen it before! (And even if you HAVE… watch it again!)
Reminder that if you're not watching Crayon Shin-chan then you are living a hollow and empty life. This is not edited. This ripped straight from the movie (Movie 8: Jungle That Invites the Storm, highly recommend for fellow Masaaki Yuasa lovers)
Kudos to the security guard who saw me wander back into the exhibit 3 different times and gawk at the exhibits like Cameron in Ferris Beuller. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh MY GOD
I want “I had a beer with Tom Kenny” on my grave. I felt so bad about the “HI CAN I HAVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPH” spiel but he was SO kind and stuck around to chat! He even introduced me to Doug Lawrence (who I’d fawned over earlier) when I told him I traveled across coasts to visit
I worked on this!!! It’s such an honor to have a film under my belt! This really was an unforgettable experience that helped me overcome a lot of my green artist stage fright—stage fright I didn’t know I had! This was a very fun project to work on and I’m so excited to see it!
It’s Sandy’s time to shine!
Here's your first look at Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie — featuring
@SpongeBob
SquarePants — premiering in 2024.
I STILL HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN ABOUT THIS... I will complete and finish this myself or so help me. I animated this in Procreate (pre-Dreams) and the layers became a royal mess, so it's probably high time I make the switch to a proper animation software... but I haven't forgotten!
Please entertain my haste in posting this so quickly—more boards will come soon in a big ol’ thread as always, but I don’t think I’ve been more excited to share any sequence more than this one HAHA. EASILY one of my favorite things I’ve ever done for the franchise!!! 🍦🚢💥
lately i’ve been getting into the habit of watching a cartoon as soon as i wake up (preferably something i haven’t seen before) and Popeye’s been my target for the past week or so. would recommend! gotta start the day off right
Fun fact, the dreaded PERFUME DEPARTMENT from SpongeBob, resides in a Macy's in Burbank California. Nickelodeon Studios is about five minutes away from it.
And... it's still there!
