This kind of feels like when big corporations responsible for most of the pollution on earth telling ppl to use paper straws and mind their carbon footprint - ultimately it’s not a “fans weren’t supportive enough” issue as much as “studios weren’t supportive enough”
If your favorite shows get cancelled, downloading them for free doesn’t help. You must buy the seasons, DVDs, and other official merch to show support. Anyways, if you wanna add to my preachy rant feel free haha!

The amount of people I have run into in this industry, who have been out of work for a long time, tells me that we are in dire need of protections against these studios - which feel determined to make working in animation no longer a viable career choice.
Next year, IATSE and The Animation Guild will enter negotiations for their new contracts. If they have to strike to get the deals they deserve from the studios, we will provide the same support that we’ve done for WGA and SAG-AFTRA.

I think about this all the time. The profit they make off our ideas = HUGE. Me/Stephen Neary/Tiffany Ford came up w the Fart Cactus shirt. CN sold them. We didn't make a cent from them. I'm sure it wasn't their biggest seller ever but imagine people who work on shows like Ben10!

the characters are awash in the color treatment vs standing out against it. instinct may be to make it feel more cohesive but the unintended consequence is that it makes it all feel flat. the original has a nice view master 3D effect, its kitschy but works, a comic book world

Yikes...the reason these CEOs think this is courageous is that they see it as "content" not art or film or even pop culture - it's a product, it's disposable, it's a factory. And YES it is something that they are selling, it's a business, but this is a shortsighted practice!

As an animation writer, I always try to consider that I’m the “first domino” in the pipeline, meaning my work or lack thereof impacts every other person who has to draw, storyboard, animate what I wrote. Meaning - it’s my job to make their job as clear & easy as possible!

y'all realize animation is like a revolving door right? meaning most of us in TV cartoons have done stints at Nick, Disney TVA, Cartoon Network etc etc
I feel like there's been a strange attitude on here lately that if a cartoon parodies another show, it's meant to be a vicious attack, rather than a lighthearted spoof from peers. Tex Avery used to parody other studios like Disney all the time, but it was all in good fun.

The fourth season of Clarence, removed from Max a while back with the rest of the series and inexplicably missing from Hulu, is available completely free, no cable required, on the Cartoon Network app and website.
