THIS is one of the hardest things in medical education to guard against. We’re often taught “the most common” patient presentations in the form of stereotypes stereotypical. It’s definitely important to know the stereotypical presentation, but also imperative to be vigilant 🧠❤️
I’m grateful to my teachers who taught me to always be vigilant against heuristic errors & cognitive biases that compromise one’s ability to make correct diagnoses.
