My grandma was almost scammed that exact way. Someone was claiming to be my brother and that he was in jail. She was about to give them money when my grandpa intervened, hung up and actually called my brothers phone to confirm.

I do know that it is impossible to be "stuck in the wrong body." I also know that people can suffer from a mental disorder that makes them think that it is. Physical mutilation does not treat mental illness. If it did, her cutting herself would have fixed her depression.
