Yes it's running, no it's not noisy. I can hear the road at front of the house over the sound of the heat pump. Yes, you know it's working when you're stood next to it cos you get an icy blast from the front. It's passed the wife test who said it sounded fine. 😃

Despite all the FUD and BS about heat pumps not liking the British climate, we seem to nice and warm. We must be doing something wrong? 🤷♂️
COP of 2.92 across the past 24 hours (range -5C to +1C).

Heat pump came out of overnight setback, Trickled ~2.6kW of heat into the house for 18 hours straight before dropping back to overnight setback.

I've been wrongly critical of the performance of my 250L Mixergy with my heat pump. This article puts performance worries to bed.

Remember how old 32kW combi cycled like mad cos it could only range rate down to 6kW minimum heat out?
What a difference ASHP makes. Just simmering away at 500W electric in for 2.5kW of heat out. Matching house heat loss.

Owning a heat pump gets a bit boring after a while cos it just works! 😂
With weather compensation it tracks outside temp and puts just enough heat into house to maintain indoor temp.

I'm now able to try 45 degrees flow on the Combi. Heat loss calcs suggest all rads should be able to cope, even at -3 design temp. So we can go into winter pretending we've got a heat pump. 😊

Charge it overnight at 25p, not super cheap, but low co2.

Interesting ASHP observation today with front of house in full sun all afternoon. TRV kicked in closed down 3 big rads cos solar gain.
Result, less heat out for almost same elec in, so COP dropped from 3.7 this morn to 2.9 this aftern.

Our first motorway trip in the EV and I can confirm range anxiety is real. 😂 In the end, we couldn't trust the range indicator so dropped into a Starbucks on the way home. 35p/kWh though? 😱 That goes through you when your used to

When 9C outside my house only needs about 2.7kW (needs 5.4kW at -3C).
My boiler can only output a minimum of 5.7kW
So it's always too big for the property, even at -3.

Reasons heading into winter:
1. Increase charge/discharge rate from 2.4kW to 3.6kW.
2. Shorter days. More chance of seeing my through the night.
3. Less (to no) Solar past 4pm, so more battery to get through
