Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Qudama was a fierce critic of Ash'arism, & they of him. Yet when war came & Salahudin, an Ashari, marched on Jerusalem to free it from the Crusaders, Ibn Qudamah was a commander in his army. Madhkalees would no doubt say he was supporting an innovator!
