This is insulin. A life saving, daily medication. There are some instances where, in my opinion, it simply amoral not to offer some kind of regulation when the price is beyond the reach of many average Americans. Also, any drug w/ research funded by taxpayers needs price caps.
One of the guys with white supremacy tattoos (He's the one with White Pride tatted on his arms) at
@Hank4Texas
rally today in Tyler is wearing a Kilgore Tire Center hat. I wonder if he works there?
I’m so honored to have worked on this groundbreaking and historic (and possibly first-in-the-nation legislation). The way it’s crafted, tenant child care centers also benefit because the landlord MUST pass the tax break on to the tenant!
#txlege
Childcare is now more expensive than college tuition.
I just passed major legislation with Sen. West and Rep. Button to bring down childcare costs for working families.
This is what pro-family policy looks like.

The man who was attacked at
@Hank4Texas
rally today in Tyler notes that a Tyler PD officer just strolled by as things got out of hand. Why wasn’t
@TYLERPOLICEDEPT
doing their job? 🤷♂️
@Jennifer_cleat
Now I’ve got to track the case number to make sure the Class A and Class B they charged him with don’t get dismissed. :) police response was 💯. Wonderful officers.

@POTUS
How does VA provide insulin free to some vets? My late dad didn’t pay a penny for his insulin, even a copay, once we got him on Tri-Care. Before that, we spent HUNDREDS a month on insulin that the private insurance offered by my stepmother’s school district wouldn’t pay.
That we live in a major city and are likely under a boil water notice until tomorrow afternoon is nearly unfathomable. Last year’s winter storm should have us paying attention to WATER infrastructure, too!
@JaredLPatterson
@scottbraddock
I didn’t realize until I read this tweet thread that the allegations of grooming could play both ways, except substitute sexuality for guns. 🤷♂️
Mystery solved. According to the ghost tour of the Texas Capitol that just happened to be going on outside my office, Faye Stevenson, the late wife of Gov. Coke Stevenson, has been seen hanging around our office door and is likely who I share my office with. 😳
Right now here in Louisville, a

Several people on instagram and Facebook have asked how I took this pic. I assure you I wasn’t looking down or standing at the rail, but/c I hate heights. I stood as far back from rail as I could, held my arm over, and set the iPhone camera to the widest frame possible.

People forget that public prayer & school prayer became popular as part of anti-Catholic crusades in the 1840s, and that the Southern Baptist Convention used to be adamantly opposed to school prayer, and a strong supporter of a wall between church and state.
In Opinion
"It offends me to see sanctimonious public prayer in any circumstance — but a coach holding his players hostage while an audience watches his piety makes my skin crawl," writes Anne Lamott, a novelist, in a guest essay.
I have determined today that two groups of people unaffiliated with

make extra bank off Session:
Dry cleaners & pet sitters.
You know I’m not wrong. And I am the son of a dry cleaner, so I don’t mean this in a bad way. It’s just an observation.
It’s 8:15 am the last day of July and you could roll a bowling ball through the first floor of the Capitol and not not a soul except the troopers at either end of the hall.
When is it appropriate for Austin residents to start complaining about SXSW? Is it today, tomorrow, or was it yesterday and I’m already late?
@EvilMopacATX
remind us of the protocol. 😂
From today’s
@nytimes
story. Once can see why a second term is so important to Trump. He needs the statute of limitations to run out while this is still before the committee. It’s not about pushing conservative values, it is about protecting and lining his own pockets.
That hour and a half of Interim was so refreshing. Took a brief vacation. Slept a lot. Got some sun. Ate lots of delicious food. Read a whole book! Even learned how to crochet!

For those who do not speak this language, allow me to translate this letter for you:
"We're about to ramp up the fight for school vouchers like you've never seen before, and we've got to raise money to make certain we elect legislators who will vote for vouchers."

If there was ever any doubt as to “Is the Texas Public Policy Foundation a Christian nationalist org who wants to tear down public schools?”, well fundraising letter from CEO Kevin Roberts answers it.
Thanks for all the invites to Sine Die parties, but I’ll be home with the dog within an hour of adjournment. Pour one out for our dead bills on my behalf.

I just typed in a calendar entry and invited some coworkers so they’d know I’ll be away from my desk.
Just realized what they are going to see in their inbox and on their calendars are the words “SYPHILIS LUNCH AND LEARN.” 🤦♂️

Maybe next time I’ll lead with host org.
When your interns ask if they can work on their work over the weekend, you know you have found young people who are interested in public service and enjoy what they are doing. Great group of
#TeamWest
interns this year in
@SenRoyceWest
’s office this year.
Love it when I hear a couple on E1 arguing about whether G or 1 is the exit floor of the Capitol, and the husband insists it is G. Repeatedly. “BABE, WHY WOULD THE EXIT BE ON 1 IF G IS GROUND FLOOR THAT WOULD BE STUPID.”

When you put in a bill number for an old session, but you accidentally picked the session after the one you needed, and you ended up pulling up your uncle’s old bill. 😂

I cannot believe someone would be deranged enough to try and come at someone walking two pit bulls while screaming and making threats. Might be time for a concealed carry permit. Appreciate
@Austin_Police
. Fast response, super helpful officer.
Translation: you do not want to become Gen Z’s “Baby Jessica.”
I realize thousands of young people on here will have no idea who Jessica McClure is…

Headed out for dove season? Watch where you're walking! There may be 1000s of abandoned or deteriorated water

in Texas posing safety hazards (think children or animals falling in) and contributing to groundwater

It’s officially that time between House Second Reading Deadline snd Sine Die where you don’t know what day it is, you are are constantly hungry & sleepy, you have been in a suit like seven days straight, shaving becomes optional and your dog is super mad at you.

I think I live in the same area as you and I encounter hostile, mentally ill homeless people at least twice a week walking the dogs early in the morning. They wander out of homeless camps in the woods near Bluff Springs and Nelms.
In case you are following along, tomorrow begins up to five bills per day per member on Intent in the Senate. Bless all the interns putting together Intent Calendar notebooks, especially ours.

I’m in Los Angeles for a brief get a way before it gets hectic, and I’m sitting outside and there’s a slight drizzle. It’s 70 degrees. It’s so not like Texas weather.
I am an Eagle Scout. (‘92) and native of
@replouiegohmert
’s district. I have never seen someone bastardize what the Scout Oath and Scout Law stand for like Louie Gohmert. The Oath talks about duty to other people. This man is out for no one but himself.
The look on my interns’ faces when I told them

wrote the them song to Dragon Ball Z was priceless.
(I love telling people that even though I have never seen an episode of that show, and didn’t know what it was till my staff told me in the 87th)

I have had occasion to file Special Session bills for my boss,

, but these were my first REGULAR session bills to file for him! Thanks to Tracy the Senate Calendar Clerk and her staff who are the real Filing Day MVPs!!
I realized I am indeed getting old today when I asked one of our interns if he knew who Tom DeLay was and he replied he did not. Can’t remember how the conversation led to DeLay, but yeah: those sands of time are a turning. Or whatever.

In spite of knowing you know where all your moving bills are at all times, do you ever look at committees for today in TLIS or TLO and accidentally scroll down to tomorrow’s meetings and have an absolute panic that you somehow forgot a meeting today? Yeah, me neither.

Austin can barely get through a boiled water notice crisis. No way the city can efficiently distribute crack pipes if I can’t drink the water for four days.
I just realized today marks that horrible day on the Legislative Calendar where you realize that your Session clothes for some reason don’t fit as well in the interim. Always a sad day. Pour one out for my waistline. 🍸 🥃
If enough of us refresh
@AustinWater
’s page simultaneously, do you think the boil water notice will be lifted quicker? And I think I accidentally forgot and gave the dog some sink water. Also rinsed an apple in the sink. Should I call poison control? Probably ok, right?
