For me the focus of the movie was the bromance between Forrest and Lt. Dan
Jenny was damaged goods that tortured Forrest until she rralized she needed him. Lt. Dan and Forrest actually helped each other.

Milita Act of 1792 (by the same exact congress that ratified 2A) specifically exempted guns from civil or tax confiscation. It also required every militiaman to furnish his own weapon of war.
So not only does 2A provide for ownership of military weapons, it encourages the same.
