I spent yesterday afternoon at Great Yarmouth Town Board, listening to presentations about the work that has been done so far to create a long term, 10 year plan for the town. This Plan will unlock funding from central government to deliver more for communities in Gt Yarmouth 🧵

I don't say this lightly... As a transport planner and a trustee of Mencap locally, this is outrageous. Not hyperbole. At £251M for less than 4 mile length of road, this has surely got to be one of the most wasteful pieces of road infrastructure on the go in the UK 🧵

Spent some time this morning with my fellow Dereham Labour Councillors looking at the remains of a pond. What is now almost entirely silted up is actually a critical piece of infrastructure for Dereham and is essential to stopping flash flooding in Toftwood...🧵

As far as I can tell, this underpass has flooded regularly since 2003 and it was a major priority for me when I was elected in May. I'm delighted that this is finally being given the serious consideration it deserves.

Popped out to Middlemarch Road this PM to check the underpass. It will surprise no one to see stagnant water and a shopping trolley still very much present. Flooding might be a County matter and I might be a District Councillor, but this is on my list of things to get sorted.

Tbf it wasn't the removal of 45p rate that was the problem. It was the unfettered, uncosted borrowing on an epic scale to pay private energy co. for our energy bills, with no plan to pay down the borrowing. The U turn may lull people into thinking the problem is over. It is not

There is a school of thought that deaths resulting from domestic violence should not be called "isolated incidents". Evidence would seem to support that view, and this law would go some way to acknowledging and providing the swift response that is needed. Very welcome news.
