My mother persistently thought I was my brother. He couldn’t visit before the end (was in hospital) and said he’d wished he’d been with her for her last Christmas . I said “ trust me, you were.” The funny moments are great.

Neighbourhood Watch: if you notice this bloke driving round and snooping in your bins, please remember he’s a very important person who doesn’t waste time on videos - see video for confirmation.
@Joannechocolat
My last Xmas with my mother, she thought I was one of my younger brothers. He’d been ill and couldn’t see her and she died shortly after. He said ‘I wish I could have spent one last Xmas with her’. I said ‘You did, you did.’ 😊

A letter from a solicitor saying you suspect you have been discriminated against by a practice manager. Worth a punt and it might be what the GPs need to get a miserable git fired. She is breaking the law and her excuse is demonstrably false.

Not good enough. You know clinical trials for puberty blockers are a nonsense and you know there’s a mass of longitudinal evidence that they work. Disgusting.

. As an excessively privileged woman and sister-in-law of the bloke who wrecked the country and ran away, why are you defending another excessively privileged woman, married to a wealthy banker, against a tiny persecuted minority.
@AndreaMann
Went to see the live show. Matthew Corbett introduced Sooty and Soo, then Sweep appeared. It was like a Nuremberg Rally - hundreds of 4 year old arms with Sweep glove puppets shot up, with chants of “Sweep! Sweep! Sweep!’ punching the air. Absolute Rock Star!!

An oncologist told a friend (worried that she didn’t feel positive) at Stage 3 cervical cancer, “Don’t believe all that being positive rubbish. Be as worried as you want - all we want is that you plod on through it”

There were BTECs. T levels aren’t working. HTQs are mainly rebranded HNC/HND, apprenticeship numbers are falling, and we didn’t need Skills Bootcamps until you buggered up the supply of HGV drivers. Duplicitous nonsense.

Pretty much the experience of my late father-in-law. Fiercely intelligent miner’s son, who went straight from school into the war as an RAF pilot then intelligence. Oxford post war reading German. Northern accent though, so no connections made. Everyone posh went into …

It never ceases to amaze me. Faces are often indistinguishable- I guess that’s why they insist on policing hair length and clothing, because they cannot tell. If I could, I re-grow my hair to its luxurious 1971 length and use moisturiser just to be an annoying cishet male…

Keep going. I haven’t got a mortgage, and am a 40% taxpayer but the adult kids pay rent and haven’t had decent pay increases so I’m struggling to keep everyone afloat, and daren’t retire (I’m 70) as I’d find it hard to manage on my pensions.
@drkatedevlin
Good luck. I once had a nose operation at the weekend. I woke up and everything was sepia coloured and there was an ethereal choir. I thought ‘Fuck I’ve died’. Then realised blood was coming out of my tear ducts and someone’s radio was on Songs of Praise.

1) Many pointed it out before Jess Phillips
2) You played a part in a pile-on to the school & teacher in the spurious cat story resulting in an Ofsted visit.
3) You never say how you support Transgender students at your school, but you hosted Jordan Peterson. Did Ofsted look?

- they’re transphobic as their manager states. They have thrown themselves under the bus. Louise doesn’t have to work with transphobes.

Years ago, in my mid-20s, I had a serious operation and was confined to hospital. Every day my grandmother would come and sit quietly beside me knitting. It was so comforting.

Maybe read up on what Modi’s Hindu government (which Sunak’s family are hand in glove with) are doing to Muslims, then reconsider.
@MartinSLewis
Still working at 70. I have 30 years in the teachers’ pension, plus the state pension, plus salary but it’s only just sufficient to help 3/4 adult children who don’t earn enough to get by. My main advice is put off getting ill and look after your knees.

Online reservations ask for a title and Dr is usually in the drop down. Unfortunately Jwd, (jealous woman-diminisher) has yet to be incorporated in that sort of software.

Thanks for this. I think the rhetoric is going the same way in the U.K. The new Labour government seemingly focused on getting everyone into work, and being ‘productive’.

Is anyone following the money?
Pretty certain the Tories have more effectively commodified refugees than the traffickers.
Basically just diverting taxpayers’ money to ??

The only Brexit benefit I’ve had so far was winding down the car window to shout ‘you shouldn’t have voted for Brexit’ at a tractor protest in Truro a couple of Saturdays ago.
@Helenreflects
Just as an addendum, at school in the U.K. in the 1950s, Scarlet Fever was treated very seriously - in a small town of about 12,000 people, we had an isolation hospital. Class mates had had polio and TB. Disease was taken very seriously.

Plus
1 Many live in places where there aren’t jobs.
2 There is no housing. In the 1970s, as a young person you could move into a rental in another area and get your rent paid by benefits immediately until you found work. I did this 4 times.
3 Disabled by Covid.

Richest person I knew well owned a lot of land in NE Essex. Owned a very old rusty Austin 1100 estate which carried his dogs and farm stuff adequately. He used to get it welded and serviced every year by the local blacksmith/welder/mechanic.

OK. Just bring a book and your AirPods, sit over there and make tea when you fancy it. Take 3 hours for lunch. We’ll get through this.

I would have given her a disciplinary warning some time ago. And given her repeated utterances, by now there would have been a written warning on file, and after yesterday I would have told her to contact her union as we were considering a gross misconduct dismissal.(And Prevent)

Jeez, Beth. I’m a working pensioner - this doesn’t help me retire. At age 70 I’d rather have money going into the NHS so I can work as long as possible.

Yup. We’ve found shoes and returned them. In turn the nursery there returns our cat collars. They’re both well known though they scoot back over the fence when it’s playtime.

By attacking trans kids, they’re on the way to eroding Gillick competence, which will result in many young women being unable to protect themselves (by contraception and abortion) from abusive family members.
