There are basically two different ways hate crimes are dealt with in the UK As "aggravated offences" that must be proven at trial, which currently only cover race and religion And "enhanced sentencing" which can be handed down by a judge and covers all 5 characteristics 3/9

Trans women get gaslighted, threatened, condescended to, belittled, and discriminated against all the time. All. The. Time. But when we show any emotion about any of that, we are framed as unhinged. And then there are people out there who say we don't suffer misogyny

What is striking about this is how these drops coincide with media reporting, of the parliamentary trans equality inquiry, the subsequent attempt by Theresa May's Conservative government's attempt to push the inquiry's recommendations and JK Rowling's tweets. 8/20

The results showed that in 2021 roughly a third of UK people thought trans equality stuff had gone too far (33%) In 2023 that became almost half (47%) 4/20
