Students at Trinity College Dublin have set up an encampment for Palestine, demanding that their university cut ties with Israel as per BDS principles supported by the vast majority of students and staff.

Just some facts about our group and the
#letstalkaboutpalestine
initiative for those who want to know the truth. 👇🏽👇🏽Teachers for Palestine is an independent Palestinian solidarity group, not affiliated with, nor funded by, any group/political party, either here or abroad.
Primary school children who have been forcibly relocated to Rafah, along with their teacher and our friend Mohammad, speak to Irish supporters about the horrors they have been forced to endure.

Close to 14,000 children have been brutally murdered, 6,296 of those were in primary and secondary school, the rest younger. 296 of their teachers that we know of have been murdered. Over 300 schools have been destroy or damaged. But we should bury our head in the sand? NO.
We co-authored a letter with
@JewishPeace
in today’s Irish Independent in response to baseless accusations against Educate Together for expressing solidarity with Palestinians. We should not be silenced for acting out of conscience.

On Palestinian Child’s Day remember that all children have the right to live, to be curious, to play and learn and flourish. A right that has been taken from these children. Boycott this genocidal apartheid state. ❤️🇵🇸

We are a completely voluntary group of teachers from diverse backgrounds and political views. There is not a single anti-Semitic person in our group. We do not allow discrimination of any kind, be it race, religion or other. This is clearly outlined in our guidelines.
If you are looking for some way of helping the people of Gaza financially then please consider our colleague and friend Mohammed Alazzami, who is trying desperately to help his students and their families as best he can.
You will find the link to his Go Fund Me page in our bio.

Everything that is planned in terms of ed will be grounded in fact and entirely linked to the existing curriculum by teachers using the allowed autonomy.
5/9
No student will be ‘targeted’ because of their religion or their views. Teachers are professionals and more than capable of sensitively delivering and adapting content . They same way we do for every topic we teach in schools. No graphic material will be shown.
8/9
The Apartheid Free Zone initiative is specific to the teachers, SNA’s and other workers in schools who want to ensure that their workplaces do not purchase any services/products used to support apartheid. The same as workplaces did to oppose the Apartheid in South Africa.
4/9
The children/teenagers/young adults in our schools are amazing, creative, intelligent individuals and are more than capable of drawing their own conclusions based on what they hear at home, amongst their peers and in school. They should be trusted.
6/9
The focus for younger groups will be on fun activities aimed at learning about Palestine and its culture. Older students will focus on geography, history & current affairs where age appropriate.
7/
No student will be ‘brainwashed’ or ‘indoctrinated’. Teachers as always, allow for debate, differences of opinion and encourage students to investigate for themselves. Like we do with every other topic.
Update:
Thank you so much to everyone who has shared or volunteered. We have been overwhelmed with volunteers and have more than this school needs. Hopefully when more schooling resumes we will be able to take this energy and willingness to help and support more schools. ❤️✏️🇵🇸

159 school students and 6 teachers murdered in the last 7 days.
That is the equivalent of 6 classes of kids and their teachers wiped out while we were on mid term break.

IMPORTANT NOTICE : CHANGE OF DATE. We have had many requests to change the date of our online meeting due to clashes with other events and we have managed to re-organise it for this Thursday. Can you please tag your teaching colleagues and local TD’s/Representatives etc.
Most of Gaza’s people are already crammed into limited space camping out in Rafah. There’s nowhere else for them to go. This is genocide and our government are still complicity despite their words and symbolic gestures.
Do not look away, do not allow yourself to be silenced. Educators and students are constantly discussing ways we can support the children of Gaza and protect the rights of students and staff in the UK. Join us and others as we demand justice
