So sad to see this beautiful new airport destroyed by Russians. It was a symbol of prosperity and growth of Ukrainian eastern regions. I flew directly from NYC there in 2012 to see my family. Then Russians came to "liberate" Russian speakers in Donbas from that prosperity.
Today we remember the remarkable bravery of Ukrainian soldiers who held #Ukraine's Donetsk city International airport. Nicknamed "Cyborgs" by Russia's forces, small numbers of πΊπ¦ soldiers held it from Sept 2014 to Jan 2015. Relentless Russian tank fire, artillery & infantry

Absolutely agree with Ben: the Russian oil price cap at $60 (max price for Russian oil) is entirely insufficient because. Russian oil is already trading at that level!. Want to limit Russia's ability to kill Ukrainians? . Set Russian oil price cap at production costs of $20.
Today the EU agreed on a $60/barrel cap on Russian oil which the G7 is set to adopt next week. If the goal of the cap is to increase pressure on the Putin regime to relent in Ukraine, this cap, around what Urals is *already* trading at, is entirely insufficient. #ThePriceIsWrong

EU must cut off Putin's energy revenues to stop Russia's brutal attack on Ukraine. There is no other way. Here is a plan how to do it by @sanctionsgroup that Economist for Ukraine fully endorse @YGorodnichenko @TDeryugina @AnastassiaFedyk #EconTwitter.
A complete oil and gas embargo is necessary. Otherwise π·πΊ will continue to undermine πͺπΊ unity by blackmailing and cutting off supplies. A quick decision would allow the market to adapt sooner. A workable strategy is outlined in our Energy Sanctions Roadmap.

Hey, peacemongers, who insist that Ukraine must negotiate with Russia for peace, I have a question. If your home, your city, your country would be blown by Russia, would you chose to negotiate for "peace" or fight against the invading terrorists?.

As someone who did interest rate risk management at big regional bank, this is good explanation for the main reason @SVB_Financial failed: unhedged interest rate risk. Good news: most banks do not have this issue. Bad news: many PE firms do (bet rates will stay low). .
SVB does not deserve a bailout. A deep look at their financial statement reveals how horrific they were at risk management. And in my opinion incompetence explains only part of it. Moral hazard must have been at play. A thread. 1/.

Very IMPORTANT. Talked to close friend in RU, worried about her husband being sent to war. (Who should know what's going on). In response to my question "what's your plan", she said "well not everyone dies in the war". I cried so much, realizing how far gone people in RU are.
Been talking to families of conscriptable men all day. Unfortunately this is Feb22 all over again. Massive denial and cognitive dissonance and little media coverage of anything beyond the abstract phrase "partial mobilization". That first word seems to key to magical thinking.

Very good thread about ordinary Russians supporting Russian war in Ukraine. I am from East Ukraine, and had many friends in Russia. None of them condemned the war or showed empathy. When I asked if they are afraid to die in the war, "not everyone dies in a war" was the reply.
A lesser known page of the Russo-Ukrainian war is the story of how a bunch of Ukrainian digital pros launched a *massive* info campaign in Feb/March 2022 to penetrate Russian propaganda and reach ordinary Russians. Itβs time you should know this story (and learn from it). 1/19.
