The reality is that the pre-1970 borns are out of touch with the american economy. In 1970, minimum could afford Harvard Tution and the average wage could afford a house on 2yrs salary.
It is now 1000x more expensive for Harvard and it takes 5.5x years to afford a house vs 2yrs.

One thing for sure is that there shouldn’t be a cap on the FICA tax. It’s the only flat tax we got and by having a cap, it’s actually a regressive tax.
It shouldn’t be controversial to say that at the bare minimum the limit on taxable income for SS should be suspended.
