To be fair there's likely 18yo being called up and deployed by Ukraine too its a usual age for military service.

The control boxes were on Russias side it was them that increased the water levels so even if not by intent or kinetic military action it was by neglect of Russias part, if they were acting with due care and attention could have said there’s an issue here

Putin knew what to expect IE sanctions he still went in anyway, sanctions aren't going to do anything to stop him & Biden just made it clear there would be no military response apart from moving around predeployed units in Europe to the Baltics, there's nothing stopping him now.
