one of the reasons to make things is to experience the world in more detail. paint once, and you pick up on how shadows lay. CAD something, you'll notice the filleting on your devices. life gets richer, and even more so if you get to share it with friends.
hacker culture is so back

thinking about how the team improved our og matchmaking poster by giving ppl color coded name tags to help find friends with similar interests
and generated all 450 custom nametags with.... figma plugins???
to the hundreds of people who have been involved with this, we wish we could tag you all.
you leave us constantly in awe and remind us that socratica is truly nothing without its people.
TLDR for the past 2 years, we’ve been running co-working sessions for ppl all across the world.
we’ve been facilitating projects from auto hair clippers to Minecraft clones to filmmaking.
we're in the business of helping good people do great things. we're all about rebuilding social fabric and creating more than we consume.
originating in waterloo, we're on 4 continents around the world with a presence in more than 30 cities.
for our friends in Canada – the Soto spotlight is the Symposium equivalent in Toronto and you probably don't want to miss out!
sign up! spots are limited:
Join us on May 26th!
The first Soto Spotlight will be happening on the University of Toronto campus, an evening dedicated to showcasing and celebrating the projects emerging from one of Toronto's most active and diverse builder-creator communities.

we're not saying anything about the future of education but when information is abundant, the hard part becomes:
1. picking what to learn
2. finding the right people to learn alongside
with new nodes popping up in singapore, mexico, minnesota, and mumbai this week. starting a node is easier done than said.
so join us! help us bring a socratica to your corner of the world by dm'ing us :)
our approach to gathering ppl is that "we're not married to the format, we're married to what works"
we spent the last month compiling the everything we've learned through our experiments (and put them all in one place)
a glimpse of our stage demos included
- hair clippers that auto fade by krish, chinemerem
- short films for rock climbing by max
- minecraft clone from scratch by victor
- visual arts journey by giang
- future of ev charging by alex, aryan
had the major honor of being one of the designers for the
@socraticainfo
w'24 symposium
from making wristbands, booth cards, lanyards, to 3D-ifying the mascots, seeing it all come together with the other designers' work that night was amazing
⁂
@socraticainfo
is the physical manifestation of what I believe in. Seeing it blossom into what it is today makes me so, so stupidly proud. 280 characters will never describe my infinite gratitude.
So thank you, Socratica. Know that thousands of voices are rooting for you :)

TORONTO
@socraticainfo
was buzzing today
short film premieres, trigonometry streetwear, poker bots, advent of code, and so much more 🤍
come work on your side projects with us every sunday!
TLDR for the past year we’ve been organizing co-working sessions for ppl’s high effort passion projects
we’ve facilitated thousands of hours of focused work, with mini demos throughout
over the last few months, we've been curating our favourite projects from weekly socratica sessions in waterloo!
here's a glimpse of them:
- grid security systems
- auto hair clippers
- waterloo watercolour art
- robotic arms
- cultivated seafood
and 30+ more demos!
do u find learning something u are passionate about a lonely journey?
like there’s no learning community irl for the twenties and thirties
and I feel like I have to always choose being alone at a coffee shop on a Saturday night or go out with friends
i might wanna host 👇🏼
this is an especially fun artifact because we got to involve hosts from all generations and nodes!!
if you're looking to start one where you are, shoot a dm
hosting a one-off
@socraticainfo
in Delhi this Sunday, May 5th at 12 PM.
cool ppl come and co-work on anything not school/work related for 3 hours in pomodoros.
DM me for the deets! only trying to keep this small so first come first serve.
the wabi-sabi-thon was conjured to bring the fun and silly back to design while taking a whimsical twist on the traditional hackathon
we gave away $1000+ in prizes and tracks included:
- art
- videography
- photography
- most rizz
- and lastly, ugliest ui
we've compiled all our experiences and wrote about everything from:
- starting demo days
- finding demoers
- planning logistics
- crafting the sparkle
- how to demo
- and much more!
a lot of this advice is very tactical and direct, as opposed to previous issues we’ve released that are broader / “here are a couple of things you can do”.
we don’t promise that any of these steps are perfect or mandatory to run a demo day, but some things we’ve done that worked
hundreds of likeminded people all over the world come together to work on stuff weekly.
whether you’re working on startups, hardware, art, writing or anything else in between, consider joining us!
