“Please note that Tessa, the chatbot program, is NOT a replacement for the Helpline; it is a completely different program”
Well now the union members can sue. They unionised and four days later were laid off? And chatbot is not a replacement? Then they can sue for retaliation.
Yep. My dad was a Professor and I saw his CV before he retired. I currently, unable to get an entry level lectureship, have more publications than he did in his entire career.
The CV of an average post-doc applying for an entry level lectureship today is the CV of the average full professor two decades ago. Worse, the salary of a full professor today is less in real terms than an entry level lecturer two decades ago. Higher expectations, lower pay.
@incredibledetr2
What so wild is that there is three of them in the same publication. Three negative opinion pieces in one publication. That’s…what….why?

Fieri's food doesn't interest me and his clothing choices raise my brow, but I've heard so many times by people who know him what a great human he is. I believe it.
I just had a big cry. After being on a bridging C visa for the last four months and being unable to work or teach, I just received my PhD student extension visa. I am allowed to be in Australia now until July and can work. It's so *stressful* you guys.

And privileged to scream about it inside an airport while being booted out. It’s premium privilege to make a scene (whether righteous or not) without consequences.

I see you! Growing up we often didn’t even have a living room for a mushroom, we lived in the station wagon. Parent didn’t have a college education either. Knowledge and knowing is just something I fell in love with, education came later with a lot of hard work and persistence.

Unfortunately the tech industry has never aligned with a union. Traditional blue collar unions didn’t want them and the Gen Xers are culturally reticent to built one of their own.

Mandy's son - thank you so much for these priceless videos, and sharing them with us. 😂 They really are a bright spot of my day whenever I catch one.

President Obama smoked a little in college, but never needed to agree to take drug tests. Now in this administration a potential staff member who smoked in college would have to agree to random drug tests? It's just so...unnecessary and invasive.

This works a treat, I did this when my wrists were problematic. Also voice recorder when going on walks. Then playing the recording back to google voice to text as auto transcription. Still have to clean thing up but I’ve learned to enunciate.

Lol I was in a situation once where some random young lad was following me across an intersection, a bit too close, and I realised he was stoned bonkers and scared of traffic and following the ‘safe lady’. 😂I gave him my arm and we finished the intersection like strolling mates.

Will the player in the photo, Cecilia Salvai, apologise? What steps is she doing towards learning & becoming a better human? Here in Australia an AFL player was banned for 6 games, fined $20,000 which was donated to an Indigenous group, and has to personally apologise to people.

We’re glorifying her for how well she dealt with the unfair and misogynistic media scrutiny. Because no one deserves to be treated the way she was. That’s what we’re glorifying her for.

Loving live orchestra is the opposite of elitist! Those musicians work really hard at their craft, it’s a joy to hear them all come together to perform a piece. If it helps, I went to see my orchestra a few weeks ago. I promise, it does get better.
@synapse101
Oh that’s terrible! Media training is sometimes helpful in these cases, but ABC should really know better. Did they not introduce you and your title? I start out with ‘thanks Colin for inviting me to be a part of your show. So, the research in this area states that…etc.’

Interestingly, I don’t think enough stories about people who are obese are made. I remember learning about the mother in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and feeling very empathetic to the whole family situation. It was eye opening. That’s what film should do, bring new perspectives.

My friend does this. We were walking back to her appt recently and we started chatting to a guy parked in front of her appt and she asked about his day. He said he had gotten released from his job that morning so she asked if he wanted a hug. She gave him a great full hug.

The funny thing too is the better the libraries are, the more people will be there, the less street trouble will happen that needs police intervention. It’s a preventative practice, libraries.

That might be true if it was an indie release but it was released on a major label and theres no way in any kind of hell those attorneys would not get a release. Major labels are rabid dogs at contract law.

Intersectionally, I get your meaning completely. There’s sports teams and women’s sports teams. Always being othered. It’s narcissistic, white society and the patriarchy.
