I think the issue with YMS' approach to criticism is that he treats film like science instead of art. Obnoxiously absolutist and mechanical when discussing films, often ignoring that the soul and personal impact of film and art in general is its primary purpose.
YMS said he had no reason to care about what was happening for 90 minutes of Oppenheimer.

If I read up on it correctly, a serial murderer confessed to killing multiple women and hiding them in a landfill. The police refuse to look for the bodies someone admitted to hiding cause of the cost. Apparently telling cops to do their job is profane abolitionism.
