Interesting concept emerging is side car savings attached to your retirement savings a/c; automatically a portion of your pension savings is put in a side car fund for emergencies. If never used, it goes into your retirement savings account at retirement.

Had the same nightmare of an experience when my dad and I had to rush Gavin to Andrews. Waited for hours for him to be attended to, only to find out the doctor was asleep in one of the rooms. I banged on the door screaming until she opened it properly wrap up with a sheet!

Approved Retirement Schemes (NCB Smart or Scotia Bridge for eg) are the best retirement savings products for self employed persons. You can contribute up to 20% of your annual income before taxes but you have to contribute at least once per year.

Agreed. Gavin and I have a 'God Forbid' letter which we have sealed and held in a place that only one or two close individuals know about. The letter sets out where certain key information, wills, titles, certs, passwords can be located or accessed.
