The oppressive actions of the state in Balochistan are evident in every aspect of daily life. We see security forces actively involved in enforced disappearances, attacking peaceful demonstrators, harassing and threatening students, and even targeting bookstalls run by Baloch students arresting them and imprisoning their books. Yet, when state-backed goons abduct and torture a family’s daughter, the state’s machinery remains silent and inactive. This stark contrast exposes the reality of Baloch oppression and the state’s role as an enforcer of anti-Baloch policies. At this very moment, two sit-ins are ongoing in Balochistan, one in Kharan, where security forces abducted two Baloch brothers, Mubarak and Ali, and their families are demanding their safe release. The other in Khuzdar, where Asma Baloch has been abducted by state-backed death squads. In both cases, the Baloch people suffer while the state plays its role as an oppressor, reinforcing its hostility toward the Baloch nation. #StopBalochGenocide

Urgent Appeal: Our colleague and Human rights defender @SammiBaluch , deputy organiser of @BalochYakjehtiC @LalaWahab310954 , and many others were unlawfully arrested during a peaceful rally for Baloch Genocide Remembrance Day in Karachi. For hours, their whereabouts remain unknown, and authorities refuse to share any information. The Karachi Police and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have launched a violent crackdown on peaceful Baloch citizens and members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC). The BYC had planned a mobilization campaign in Liyari, leading up to an event on January 25 in Dalbandin. However, when party members and participants arrived at Miran Naka near Liyari, they were met with force, baton charges, and arrests by the Sindh Police. Several BYC members were illegally arrested, including Lala Wahab Baloch, the Central Deputy Organizer, and Sammi Deen Baloch, Fouzia Baloch, and Amna Baloch. The area has been besieged, with police targeting only Baloch citizens. Sammi Deen Baloch is being held at the Karadar Police Station, while Lala Wahab Baloch is at the Chakiwara Police Station. The police are reportedly harassing and threatening Sammi Deen Baloch and kept in jail alone. She escaped an assassination attempt just yesterday. Her life is in danger and Sindh Police is responsible for that. This incident is part of a broader pattern of repression against the Baloch people and human rights defenders. We appeal to the Baloch and other communities to urgently reach Karadar and other Police Stations and stand with their sisters and brothers. #StopBalochGenocide

Members of BSAC were recently arrested at a bookstall, highlighting the struggles faced by those working to educate and uplift communities in Balochistan. This incident reveals the harsh reality in the region, where people involved in intellectual and social reforms face oppression, while drug dealers, extremists, and criminals are reportedly allowed to operate freely with state support. These harmful forces seem to be encouraged to weaken Baloch society and culture. Earlier this week, the courts banned all forms of activism in educational institutions, turning them into places that only issue degrees, without encouraging critical thinking or civic engagement. This decision limits the right to education and blocks efforts to promote intellectual growth and a culture of reading. The international community must take notice of these actions and hold the state accountable. The people of Balochistan deserve access to education, freedom of thought, and the right to improve their society. Such measures must be condemned and treated as violations of basic human rights.
The police has raided the book stall of #BalochistanKitabKarwan in Sibbi and harassed the students while detained the Central Committee member Aamir Baloch. This continuous harassing and terrifying the students on hosting book stalls makes no sense but the dictatorial behaviour of the government. The book stalls are meant to promote books reading culture and work on literacy of Balochistan but it seems they don’t want a literate Balochistan. @ImaanZHazir
