Misogynists crying over the "man vs bear" discussion are trying to dismiss, belittle, & demean women who are sharing WHY they choose the bear.
To the men & women who are standing up to make videos & posts to amplify what women have been saying & bring attention to violence
@BexWords
Things like this - people don’t realize the lasting effect they have. PTSD can come from any trauma - and this was definitely trauma.
I have stories like this from my first waitressing job. I wanted that job SO badly. I really did love the job - just not the “stuff.”
@ask_aubry
This is why, whenever asked, “What’s the first thing you would do if there were no men in the world?” or “…for an hour?” “…a day?” - my answer is always the same:
I’d go for a hike, without any fear.
Because the fear of men is constant. That’s just fact.
@ask_aubry
One of these men says, “I see nothing wrong. Totally controlled discipline.”
I watched it as well. I saw the fear in her face. I saw her rush to try to get to safety. I saw him run after them. I got chills. And I got more chills when I read the responses.
@RN_Atheist
It’s even more than excepted for the men to be bigger. Women, in general, of course, are able to find all body types attractive. We love a dad bod.
But your god forbid a woman have a mom bod.
@Lesdoggg
Always the bear.
The bear can be scared by noise and making yourself big. A man cannot.
If a man attacks me - the burden of proof is on me. I am likely to not be believed. I am also likely to experience other things than death.
It is easy to prove a bear attack.
@DK_Able
@Kira_Talis
No one is choosing death.
Would you rather encounter a random bear in the woods or a random man. Bear. Every time. It’s most definitely not certain death - most of the time you don’t know you’re near a bear.
But if it is death - it’s that. No rape, no kidnapping, no torture.
@notcapnamerica
My kids were often unhappy to see me arrive at daycare! I loved it. It meant they were happy and cared for there (and knew they were about to sit in a car for at least an hour).
They were entitled to feel how they felt.
This is weird and her pride is sickening.
@thejackhopkins
Today, my mom (86) and I walked out of a tire place (A&B, Corneilus, NC). They had a disclaimer on their counter about supply chain and it ended with, “Let’s go Brandon!” My mom asked if they were Trump supporters - and the salesman said, “We’re supporters.”
We left.
@_nomadic_soul
@JReeves0430
I would have died in a home birth - as would my daughter. Four days of labor after being pregnant an extra three weeks, with no amniotic fluid left, I had my first emergency section.
We’d both be dead if I was at home.
@Mychemicalthotz
@KeneAkers
The term doctor started in education, not medicine.
An earned doctorate provides you with the title doctor. That should bother no one.
@RyanShead
My kids would probably not speak to me for a while if I referred to them as “colored.” That word makes my head hurt.
But otherwise - yes - this is a disgusting display of racism and I hope that women is held accountable.
@rants_lizzy
Just in case someone needs to hear this again: you DO NOT babysit for your own kids.
They’re your kids.
You just take care of them - each parent equally,
@TheMattEsh
@CalltoActivism
This isn’t about you. It’s not even about men.
It’s about an offer of help, if needed.
It’s to say thanks to the staff.
Men need to stop being so defensive. Men should stop thinking this is about all men.
Men should reflect that maybe men behave badly.

Case in point - I’m immunocompromised and always mask.
My suggestion is you deal with it, sir, as it none of your business what I wear.

I have a breast cancer shirt. When I wear it - all other cancers still matter. I’m just focusing on one cancer at the moment.

Such brilliant advice. It’s wonderful when people on Twixter are helpful, knowledgeable, and able to provide such a detailed response. Thank you! I learned from this thread.

No. This is not actually or literally talking.
Even if you have to speak out loud in order to write full sentences - this is still writing. And posting. Twexting.
Wouldn’t it have been an awkward 5 minutes if I just sat in silence for that whole time before responding?
Seen today in my local Buy Nothing group:

Yes, thanks for the unnecessary explanation. I’m aware of the different types of bears.
Still would choose a bear.
Definitely would choose the bear.
@KenSchleede
@featherty
And yet another man tries to tell us why we are wrong in choosing bear. Kenny - don’t you get it. Look at a bear - it’s a bear. Look at any man - it’s an unknown. No way of knowing what you’ll get.
Therefore - we chose the bear. Which is likely a black bear and will run away. 1/

False. Just stop with the lies.
All abortion is healthcare.
No one aborts a late term baby because they’ve changed their mind. That is a wanted, non-viable baby, and the worst day in the families life. Stop making it something else.
Learn.
@KaeleyT
I liked this twext because it’s true.
Are you now going to ruin it by falling in line behind right wing talk bites? Because if so - then your original twext was disingenuous.
You can’t have it both ways. His mother would have given a better speech - that’s for sure.

When I get money I know I’m not supposed to have I put it into savings and let it sit until all the legalities have been handled. Of course, in my case it’s 72.35 from an insurance claim, but same idea.

How do you know they didn’t mask before? Tons of us masked before - and no one cared OR noticed.
This is a non-issue. We can’t dictate how people dress.
@Zoey_Granitz
Teen laughed at me for my mask. I walked over to her family (5 adults & 2 more kids) leaned down, & loudly said, “Some people have sick family & wear a mask for them. Some people are sick & wear the mask for you.”
Then I grabbed my iced Mocha & got the hell out of Starbucks

I enjoy that you recognize that it’s her body in this scenario.
Texas both says that a fetus deserves rights and also that that same fetus has none.
That’s the hypocrisy. That’s the stretch.

This is the same way I tried to explain LGBTQ to my mom: “imagine kissing a man, passionately. Okay now: imagine kissing a woman the same way.”
It’s almost always “I can’t.”
To which I say, “Great. Now you get it.”

So kids will never have an opportunity to say what an abusive parent they have, or that they are being mistreated at home? Maybe even at school, but they don’t trust the parent enough to discuss it? It’s important that a Dr ask those questions and a 🚩 if the parent won’t leave

Nope.

Still 100% would choose the bear. For so many reasons.

“Your understanding” is the problem.
This doesn’t happen. If someone gives birth to a living baby - and then the baby is killed - that’s murder.
There’s no such thing as live-birth abortions or abortion after birth. No. Such. Thing.
@thisone0verhere
I’m an officiant. I often say “Mawwiage” at least once in my ceremonies. Sometimes only loud enough for the couple to hear.
I started my nieces wedding with the exact line from the movie. He was in the navy and they saw Princess Bride on the big screen for their first date.

I worked in higher Ed. My assistant manager was male - so I often got him to say the exact same thing I said to a student or parent. They would then ask to speak to the person in charge - and he would point to me.

“It’s not okay to call people people.”
Seriously?
Of course it’s okay: child is a person, adult is a person. They’re both people.
So call people people. It’s fine.
@mysicksadlife
I started giving my kids the option at age 10. When their name was called I just asked if they’d like me to go with them. They did until around 15 for my son. My daughter is 28 and I still get called to accompany her. 🤦🏼♀️
But they knew they had that autonomy.

You have no business practicing in the US if you are not pro choice. You shouldn’t be an OBGYN if you can’t provide your patient (the pregnant person) the complete care they need. If you can look at the mother and say her life is unimportant - you’re abhorrent.
@User00038149
@CalltoActivism
Who’s erasing history, exactly?
Can you still read about Hood in a book? Yes. Do we need a fort named after him? No. No history was erased in the renaming of this fort, just as no history is erased when a statue is removed, or when you finally put the confederate flags away.

That what they said. You just don’t like HOW they do those things.
You don’t believe that empowering your children to handle medical professionals IS protecting your child. Being aware of their body and advocating when they feel wrong is VASTLY important.

The term stewardess is antiquated.
It is therefore very logical to suppose that he uses other antiquated terms for those he feels superior to.
This was not unprofessional.
@Mychemicalthotz
@KeneAkers
I disagree. I believe that the term doctor belongs to anyone who earns a doctorate.
It’s what is often used to distinguish between ranks in a college campus, or to ensure someone has the proper level of education, such as a superintendent. It’s an important earned distinction.
@RyanShead
Take that mic and say your piece - you deserve it!
Plus - I would bet that the reason these students say their own names is because administrators are too afraid to pronounce international names.
So let everyone say THEIR WHOLE NAME!
@dmross65
@ReallyAmerican1
Why not just stop this nonsense in the first place. It’s history. Teach it. Parents don’t get to opt out of the parts of history with which they “disagree” - that’s not how education works.

What hypocrisy. She sat through hours and hours (and hours) of testimony. She answered questions. She was not found guilty of anything.

Not missing a thing.
If you have women in your life - ask them this: what’s the first thing you’d do if there were no men in the world. You might be surprised by the answer.
My answer is always: go for a hike, alone, without fear. The only thing I fear in the woods is man.
@gardirms
@finngalkn
Interesting. I’ve not seen this irl. I’ve seen just the opposite. A trans person posts something like: went on a picnic!
Then the transphobes enter the space to try to sexualize the picnic. I see THAT, sadly, often.
@TizzyEnt
Receipts - IMO - mean nothing.
Nothing excuses the behavior of this woman - receipts or not. She does not value the lives of these men - and that very likely translates to her treatment of patients.
She needs to be removed from the job permanently.
@RyanShead
Wow, Ryan.
I’m sorry you took such offense to my comment. I’ve always enjoyed following you and just found this word choice to be odd.
I’m not sure I deserved a response with this level of vitriol.
My kids would be pissed as the word is antiquated and they identify as Black

I took my daughter and a friend to see a late showing of Cabin in the Woods.
A family came in and sat at a table near us. Three kids IN PAJAMAS. All under 5.
CABIN IN THE WOODS!
So inappropriate.
(But we still had a great time. Those poor kids! Scared and scarred for life.)
@notcapnamerica
I really dislike when people judge the kid’s reaction like this - for all we know he has emotional or mental health issues, even social anxiety, and having someone he trusts do that when all eyes were on him? He reacted. She is responsible.

This is why we needed televised retractions, apologies, and “we lie” going across the screen at the start and end of all Fox Entertainment shows. They got away too easy.
