@C4ClimatePol @agronomistag Where did you get this wrong idea? Geissler & Skow analyzed 64 long-term crop fertilization global trials- found application of mineral N fertilizer associated with average 15% INCREASED microbial biomass and 13% INCREASED soil organic C compared to an unfertilized control.

@agronomistag Seems puzzling, but many believe that animals magically produce the nutrients and carbon in their manure. Manure is a great resource, but follow the origin trail. Thanks for the great reminders!

@LuisAzcona @historyinmemes Huh, where did you get that idea? Plants can grow slowly in most any soil, but to have productive crop production, most soils benefit from adjusting pH or nutrient supply. It's not some conspiracy... known for millennia.

@FertilizerSoil Of course there will always be fertilizer imports in some of the 54 African conference countries. Did anyone suggest that each country be self sufficient within its borders?

@TuomasJMattila @thedassaurav Thanks for delving into the complexity of C-building practices. We need more of this work to separate facts from hype. How much of this translates from Finland to warmer climes? Looking forward to digging in to details!
