Broadcaster || The other hockey/sports guy from St. Mike’s (VT) || Mainer || Personal account--All opinions mine and I don't speak for any organization.
A year ago, I was struggling mightily with mental health issues and wrote about it, in large part for my own therapy, but also for anyone who may have been battling the same battle.
A year later, things are much, much improved:
@oneunderscore__
@bruce_arthur
He’s moving out of the district anyway. This whole thing seemed to start as a vendetta and end with him trying to get noticed by national talking heads.
End result: he’s still raving on Twitter to very few interactions, and district moves on like he never existed.
2 weeks ago I knew nothing about Bengaluru FC. But due to Twitter and ESPN+ now I’m a fan with a jersey (as well some new Twitter friends).
Sports today really can create a small world.
Minor league baseball team wants broadcaster. Pay is 400 bucks a month. Housing not provided. Recaps and other media relations also expected.
People apply for this crap?
@mtgreenee
Translation: "I'm an opportunist, and I'd vilify the Nation of Islam if it was convenient for me. But here I like their position, so I'll blather on about the 1st Amendment."
Phony.
I haven't met Cooper Flagg, but everything I've seen and heard from/about him makes me strongly hope he is someday the first Maine high schooler to play in the NBA.
@highbrow_nobrow
@atrupar
His honest answer would be "I was right about him, but I have no sense of decency or honor. Once I realized I could advance my career by aligning with him, I was happy to do it."
Was informed that a parent complained that in one of our weekend games "the announcers pronounced my kids' name wrong."
Well, perhaps if your school's AD had responded to any of my 3 requests asking for confirmation on those names, that wouldn't have happened.
@littleDragoun
The real reason you won't block is because you haven't spent enough time learning from Coach about the basics of how to be devastating downfield.
Coach is great at that and his takes on America are just as good.
Thanks,
@bengalurufc
club shop for pointing me in the right direction. I was able to order this and get it shipped to the US. Won't be here in time for tomorrow's match but hey--you can't have everything!

Cassie, Coach Letterman is a notary public. That means he's the ultimate authority on which names are real and which ones are not from notarizing all those birth certificates.
@thehill
He's not a constituent. He's not her opponent. How often do candidates debate people who are neither?
She'll debate Anthony Pappas, I hope. He actually matters; Shapiro does not.
Sure, Maine lost today, but it is still the Black Bears best-ever season. And it was fun to see tons of Mainers who usually only casually follow the program (like me) or maybe even rarely watch at all gathered around TVs to root for our state's flagship school.
I finally figured out who BFC forward Sunil Chhetri reminds me of--Marc Overmars. They play different positions, but their exceptional speed and workrate are why I see similarities.
Of course, Chhetri is still doing that at 36 years old, which is incredible.
FULL TIME. A second-half fight-back falls short as the Blues go down to Jamshedpur FC in their final clash of the 2020-21 Indian Super League.

Never expected 20 years ago when I was getting back into sports broadcasting that I'd ever broadcast a national title game in anything. Heading to Beverly, MA to do color on this one in just a bit....
@bengalurufc
I’ve got the 2019 Kia-sponsored one with the red sleeves. Only one I’ve owned since discovering the team somewhat by accident on ESPN+ in the USA.
I was welcomed in by dozens and dozens of Blues fans here on Twitter last season. What a great fan base.
Heading for bed. If I wake up and LePage loses, I'm just gonna have to assume it's voter fraud. He's up 17 percent. No way can that just disappear unless the Dems rig it.
I know some people wonder if I'm nuts to drive 3 hours each way to call
@Dartmouth_MIH
and before that, all of the
@Dartmouth_WIH
home games.
The Valley News wondered the same thing:
Bengaluru FC plays at 9 AM Tuesday. We'll be in the midst of a blizzard, but I can watch a football club 8000 miles away from me play live on a 80 degree night.
Come a long way from scanning the Boston Globe for days-old football scores.
Would love to see us stop putting "Lady" in front of the school mascot for the girls teams. (Especially for Cheverus and the "Lady Stags". Thankfully I haven't seen that one in a while!
@GingerNation96
I guess “being exploited” and “working for almost free” isn’t “paying your dues”.
Open mic nights aren’t a job, and expecting to be paid more than 40 bucks a game isn’t “feeling entitled” to me.
Happy to be added to the MPBN coverage of the Maine State high school basketball championship broadcasts. Grew up watching them, and it's always been a goal of mine to be part of them.
Once again, a high seed that plays a schedule of teams mostly a level lower than who they will see in the tourney got knocked out in the first round. This is where closed conferences put teams at a postseason disadvantage.
More of this please. And more schools that let their kids have the ability to make noise and be appropriately rowdy. Hate seeing overly-stern admin with arms folded glaring at the kids if they do more than spell out their school’s name.
Hockey season 2022-23: excited to be back calling the
@Dartmouth_MIH
home games on ESPN+. I’m also thrilled to rejoin the
@Dartmouth_WIH
ESPN+ broadcasts again: I was with them from 2015-2017 and never missed a chance to call a game when my schedule allowed. Now I get all of ‘em!
🗞️ “I definitely felt some pressure from coaches that thought I could benefit from another year of juniors, but for the most part it wasn’t ever too bad. I think NCAA D3 has a lot more to offer than people think"

So in 24 hours after turning on ESPN+ hoping to watch a Socttish game, I instead got hooked on an Indian Super League match, made some Twitter friends, and now have a team there to support.
Ain't the internet amazing?
The book I co-authored came in the mail today. It was literally a 13 year project and as life took Allan Globensky and me in different directions, I thought it was never gonna get finished. Fun and surreal to have it complete and arrive today.
Outshot, out-chanced and out-possessed. But Bengaluru took advantage of their opportunities, and some nights, that's the difference. That was a fun and nerve-wracking match to watch.
@FlyingOrr
The Bruins are just so far behind the other teams when it comes to fan interest in general—unless they’re playing for a Cup.
But Bergeron is a Boston icon. Wholly underrated by the city’s fan base but not the Bruins’ base itself.
Ended up having homework today, as I've been added to the Division 3 Frozen Four broadcasts from Beverly, MA this coming weekend.
Thought my season was over after the Maine HS hockey playoffs last Sat, but got this unexpected surprise courtesy of
@D3HkyBiggsy
.
Um....the club that finishes 2nd has had a better season than the club that finishes 4th regardless of the League Cup. Doesn't matter who those 2 teams may be: we could be talking about Chelsea and Newcastle and the same would be true.
🤔 “If United finish fourth & Arsenal finish 2nd, who’s had the better season?”
👀 “Both top 4 & we have the League Cup?”
Andy Goldstein & Darren Bent disagree on who’d have a better season if United finish 4th & Arsenal finish 2nd 🔴

Coach did peak in high school, but he hasn't stopped peaking since. That's the reason for all of the standing ovations he gets, and why he can cut the line at Beef O'Brady's.
@K_G_Andersen
I'd think a prof at Cornell would be an "elite scientist" but definition of the word "elite" seems to morph depending on whether the user wants to attack someone with it.
My role with Dartmouth hockey in 21-22 has changed slightly: I'll call play by play for most of the home games on ESPN+. I'll be on the road handling the radio duties for Learfield. And I'll have the womens home opener as well as some non-conference games on ESPN+ as well.
I'll buy a Cooper Flagg jersey once he decides where he's playing.
I suppose if it is a team that I have traditionally not liked, I'll only buy a Cooper Flagg T-shirt! 😂
Wondering if UMaine field hockey gets travel and lodging costs reimbursed after traveling to Ohio and not being allowed to finish their non-conference varsity game because Kent State couldn't push their football game back 10 minutes.

G Tuukka Rask confirms he has a torn labrum and will have surgery in the next few weeks. Will be out until December/January. He wants to keep playing for the Bruins.
