Full of pot holes, not fit for propose, entitled drivers think it’s a green light to close pass you even though you’re travelling at speed.
Also it’s an ADVISORY cycle lane so it has no enforcement. It should be removed completely. Safer without it.

The thing that drew my attention to this driver was the fact there was empty loading bays up the road, she parked on the tactiles, then she was sitting on her phone.

Not how the system works. Imagine the uproar if the Police just brushed their own cases under the carpet.
Also no way Met would pay the fine for their officer. The officer needs to be held accountable.
It’s just not a good look for any officer breaking the law.

It is a lottery.
Met have verbally told me that an assault charge is hit and miss, the more assured way was points for the due care and attention.
When they were issuing data-it showed a 53yo male took the 5 points. It was a no more than 35yo who was driving. No justice served.

Definitely a phone - most likely a personal phone. She was tucked it away in her hip pocket when confronted too. Then didn't once say it was work related.
I know about radios not being the same as mobile phones. That would be due care and attention if they were distracted by it.

I believe they had no right to be on the road in the first place either given it is a pedestrian area, and it was not an emergency. It was just pure laziness.

I did ask her to move to the loading bay down the road, she came up with more excuses. She thought she doesn't have to follow the law becaue she's in a Met van. That's just wrong.

The thing is you’ve decided unilaterally that phone drivers are not dangerous. I’ve witnessed two phone drivers rolling their two steel boxes towards people because they’re not concentrating.
Remember 5 people a day die on the roads, far more than all the crimes you mentioned.

If I’m riding in that area next time the bad driver could be behind me, putting my life at risk or my loved one. I don’t take it lightly.

People that use their phones while driving infuriate me since one nearly killed my friend, instead hospitalising him for 7 months.
His leg was bent up towards his face. You'd care too if it happened to someone you know.
