Let me clarify a few things • Apricot trees do NOT naturally produce popcorn • They are actually flowers that deceptively APPEAR to be popcorn, but aren’t • You CANNOT eat them, it is NOT a nice surprise • Blossoms pulling the WOOL OVER YOUR EYES

Let me answer several of you at once since several of you say close to the same thing. First, I understand why you say the song is fine as is. It's not a bad thing, it's just not the most enlightened thing. Consider the following: 1) I love President Nelson and study all his words - so this isn't an attempt to dismiss him. 2) Compare the Primary song "Follow the Prophet" to these verses and a quote from President Nelson: 3 Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; 👉for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.👈 4 Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, 👉if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark.👈 5 For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and 👉receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.👈 (2 Nephi 32:3-5) Quite frankly, if you're always waiting on a prophet to replace these instructions - you are missing out on a lot. President Nelson "I urgently plead with each one of us to live up to our privileges as bearers of the priesthood. In a coming day, only those men who have taken their priesthood seriously, by diligently seeking to be taught by the Lord Himself, will be able to bless, guide, protect, strengthen, and heal others. Only a man who has paid the price for priesthood power will be able to bring miracles to those he loves and keep his marriage and family safe, now and throughout eternity." 3) The unfortunate thing is - that Primary song really is a sheep song. We have a whole collection of adult members who never get beyond, "follow the prophet." Not even the prophet teaches "follow the prophet." Every single prophet teaches, "follow Jesus Christ." Which is harder to accomplish. Being able to live by the Spirit and get true personal revelations on a daily basis is harder to cultivate and takes far more effort. We should teach children to seek that from ground zero. But instead, you've given them a crutch and all they have to say is "follow the prophet" and they feel done. It's not enough. Prophets lay groundwork and doctrine. They guide us in mass. But YOU need guidance for your individual every day and that primarily comes from Christ through the Holy Ghost. That song isn't wrong, but it's become a culture within itself and a LOT of adult members don't graduate and move beyond it. They cite it like scripture as if that's the best answer. I hope this makes sense to you and you will consider why some people don't feel like that's been a good thing. Christ is a far better Rock. Personal revelation from Christ is a far better Rock. I would rename the song: "Study the Prophets" and work Christ in as the Principal Guide.

@pol_plesiosaur @JAEbberts @PioneerPaperTrl no, but it is a heck of a predictive pattern that I can’t fault any of the sisters for using another pattern I’ve noticed is dismissing this heuristic with “President Nelson didn’t serve”, as if his generation were under the same prophetic guidance as we are

@2merts2grungus you find a song in a Spotify shuffle playlist, you like it, you save it, you look up the track by track album review on an insane Russian music reviewer’s site founded in 1998, and THEN once you know it’s good you go to the full album just like people always have

@melonakos @SecretCityChez it is used only once, by John Taylor, when he is painting the picture for who is to blame for Joseph’s death, describing how mobs & corrupt government refused to see things they did not want to see there is no other canonized example of Saints referring to themselves this way

my reading of Pres Nelson’s and Elder Anderson’s talks is that there is no such thing as a neutral term an umbrella or academic term like “the Latter-day Saint movement” may be closer to the Church’s preferred name, and if we need to play that game, fine, puffings nerfect but I think the spirit of it is to be on the lookout for opportunities where you aren’t expected to feign neutrality about your allegiance, or downplay the name of Christ
