@FraGirolamo1 @AnonMom45 @m3lonh3ad …but there’s no evidence. And looking at his contemporary writings, there’s nothing like the Book of Mormon. He never produced anything on that scale ever again. There’s just nothing to support it. Except it’s “possible,” and “you don’t expect me to believe he saw an angel?”

@FraGirolamo1 @AnonMom45 @m3lonh3ad Dude, the fact that we have parties equally split between “he totally pulled it off using his regular breaks” and “Sidney wrote it” and “Spaulding wrote it” and “it’s The Late War” and “it was literally inspired by Satan” suggests this isn’t as bulletproof as you think.

This is of the sort where “totally makes sense until you think about it.” But - BUT - even if we concede this, it only accounts for the first of the two problems above. So, you’ve explained the book. How do we explain how it convinces so many?
@PioneerPaperTrl I think the explanation is pretty simple. Joseph was a good story teller, had a convincing imagination and a strong knowledge of the Bible, and spent a number of years developing in his mind the characters and stories of the BoM.

@FraGirolamo1 It is inconceivable to translate “good story teller with infinite prep time” into “dictate a 600 page book, 20 words at a time, without meaningful revisions or edits and including undiscovered Hebraisms” But whatever helps you sleep at night man
