I also think there is some discrepancy between what men claim they like and what they do like.
Make-up, filler, surgery are not always detectable, especially by men, so they may claim they do not like them but they only spot the bad versions, but like it when it's more subtle.

Possessing reliable knowledge about a topic does not automatically mean that person wants to or is able to implement it in their own lives. Ideally, they would. But it's not necessary.
