Recent DfT data also shows A205 South Circular in Lewisham, contrary to claims of worsening conditions by a few anti-LTNers, now has 7.9% *less* traffic post-LTN, faster travel indicating decreased congestion & the lowest levels of NO2 alongside a drop in childhood asthma cases👍

Today (Saturday) the police started issuing Notices Of Intended Prosecution to drivers exceeding the 20mph limit in Hither Green West. They caught 50+ offenders in a short period this afternoon. That'll be at least 3 points & £100 fine each, or speed awareness course 🚔 📸

Well, some good is coming out of this petrol crisis. Some locals who were anti-LTN are now saying "it would be nice if those who don't need to drive got the train, bus, walked or cycled so those who genuinely need to use their cars can get the fuel they need to run them". 👍

The average commute by car is 8.5miles. It takes 17 minutes to drive 8.5 miles at 30mph. It takes only 8 minutes longer if the whole journey is driven at 20mph It's really not that big a deal, is it?

Local One group blaming LTN for temporary traffic issues when, in fact, it's Thames Water repairing a main 🙄. They 'implore' our Mayor to "Open Our Roads" instead of imploring the drivers to use public transport, walk or cycle, use an alternative route or reduce/ combine trips.

Two weeks into the New Year already, and not a single day with "gRiDloCK" on the LTN boundary road, Lee High Road. Time for Lewisham's Mayor to start rolling out LTNs everywhere - the council have data showing they have great results, and all the criticisms have been debunked.

@CharlotteCGill @willnorman It's not open to general traffic because the bridge needs repairs costing approximately £300 million - so upwards nearly £2.5 millions *per metre* just to allow cars to use it again. So the new line of attack against the LTN is that it "delays buses" even though TfL have repeatedly said it doesn't. How *could* a bus be delayed in this "post-LTN 24/7 gRiDloCk"? 🙄

@carlafrancome Jane's still upset that she arranged an anti-LTN demo in Lewisham in 2021 but had to cancel it because no-one turned up. This week she's upset because, after repeatedly demanding Lewisham Council publish their latest LTN monitoring report, they did, & it shows great results😂

According to One Lewisham I'm "full of sh*t" (that's not very nice, is it?) and that I also "misquote/paraphrase" their founder when I say she'd said "Post-ltn it's gridlocked all day 7 days a week" on Lee High Road. They also say I'm gaslighting. 🤷‍♂️ This is 11:45am today. ⬇️

@jonburkeUK Critics of the LTN in Lewisham repeatedly said it made the "sacrificial" A205 South Circular worse. In fact, the latest DfT Road Traffic stats actually show it now has 9.7% *less* traffic than pre-LTN (2019) & 17% *less* traffic than 2017. One Lewisham be like 👉😆👈 la la la la

@LewishamCouncil Well done to the officers, elected members and Mayor. It's the right decisions supported by strong evidence. Hither Green West is keen to be next.

Apparently the A20 Lee High Road is so unsafe because of "24 hour post-LTN gRiDloCK" that the "pAvEMeNTs aRe FuLL of cYcLIsTs". This is rush hour, just now, and the cyclist is valiantly battling the heavy traffic. 👍

Nice to see @LewishamCouncil taking a more robust approach to the minority who try blame the LTN for everything & who perpetuate untruths which are not supported by the data. The Mayor should just continue to roll-out LTN borough-wide, as this lot just won't be persuaded. 1/2

Our local Onesie fans try to portray a queue of 15-or-so cars waiting at a red light at rush hour as evidence of "gridlock" on Lee High Road. If they do, always check Jam Cams a little further up the road to see if the traffic flow is heavy, or it's just traffic at the lights 1/3

@adamtranter London Ambulance Cycle Response Unit clearly benefits. They currently resolve over 50 per cent of all incidents at the scene.

HOT OFF THE PRESS -"Several reports have been published in the last year that indicate LTNs have been effective in reducing car use, encouraging more active travel, reducing road danger, and improving perceptions of the local street environment" (TfL Travel in London report 14)

Notice how all the Anti LTNers say no-one knows what the sign on the left means, but they all seem to know what the sign on the right means 🤔

With Tokyo Paralympics starting today, don't let anti-LTN campaigners portray all disabled people as fully dependent on cars. Many disabled people can & do ride bikes. British Paralympic cyclists are some of the very best in the world. Good luck Team GB!

@No_Sh1tSherlock All these traffic incidents happened in Hither Green West very recently. When *should* traffic become a priority?
