The Gerrards Cross Sewage Treatment Works is currently discharging untreated sewage into the River Misbourne, a chalk stream. This has been for 134 hours straight. Have lost count how many times this has happened this year. These are far from exceptional weather conditions.

The @EnvAgency need to start an information campaign to inform the public about the dangers of river water, especially where they are regularly dosed with untreated sewage. Don't hide behind the Bathing Water Directive, people need to be informed. It is a public health risk!

The headwater of Foston Beck part of the River Hull catchment. This is one of a few Flagship Chalk Streams. ⁦ @YorkshireWater ⁩ tell me that the ⁦ @EnvAgency ⁩ have approved them to discharge sewage into this river despite the fact there has been no immediate storm.

Close to 7000 hours of sewage discharges in the River Colne Catchment from @thameswater operated sewage network since start of 2024. The Rivers Ver, Bulbourne, Chess, Misbourne, all chalk streams, all contributing to this crisis. The volumes will amount to Billions of litres.

Need an early review of HS2. The sooner it is shut down the better for the economy & the environment. Resources should be redirected to projects that will benefit the population. What to do with half finished tunnels? convert them to much needed water reservoirs. Shut down HS2.

Thanks Catherine. We have been predicting this sort of thing for the last 10years. You have to wonder what is going on below the ground where the eye can’t see. The @EnvAgency should know but by their own admission the don’t have the data.

Sinkhole courtesy of @HS2 in the #chilterns #aonb We all know the chalk aquifer is fragile, but HS2 and the investors behind it don’t care. How many warning signs till it’s stopped? @GreenJennyJones @PJennings88 @stophs2 @BBCBreaking @GreenRupertRead @BucksCouncil

Sewage irrigation and fertiliser service thanks to ⁦ @YorkshireWater ⁩ all the excess is then dumped into a convenient flagship chalk stream that flows into a SSSI. We are told that the ⁦ @EnvAgency ⁩ have approved this??? Not sure if ⁦ @NaturalEngland ⁩ would approve

Explanations in the article indicate HS2 should never have been allowed to tunnel through this location. Local groups warned about this 10 years ago, @EnvAgency chose to ignore them. Drone footage shows extent of HS2 Chiltern Tunnel sinkhole, it's grown.
